So I got myself saree for the first time, its quite elegant and really want to wear it for atleast once, but the problem is I’m only 5’2 and have pear shaped body, I’m confused wud it look nice as I’ve got huge butt/bum and really hate it, Do u guys think saree look nice on curvy girls.

Before you decide that it does not look good on you,why don't you try it on at home...and wear heels with it.
Make sure the fabric of the saree is not to stiff and has a nice fall to it.Like for example a stiffer banarsi saree wont look that nice,but a nice chiffon type material might actually look good.If you have teh confidence to wear it and know how to properly wrap the thing,it might actually look good...!

My husband doesn't like saris on any woman.....curvy or petite doesn't matter.

I tried it on yesterday, it looked quite good from the front side as I’ve reallly patli qamar compare to my rest of the body, but then from the back I looked a bit curvy and was put off for me.,so still confused:confused:

some says sari looks good on smart and healthy girls but some says it looks good on skinny to normal weight girls also

It depends on the material.

I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvve sarees...they're so elegant and if its the right material and fitted right it can look beautiful on curvy girls.

I personally like saree on myslef and I know I am curvy...!
Although I haven't worn them a lot,just a couple of times,but have always worn chiffon/georgette kinda material for saree,it falls well and looks good for curvy women.
I just like myself in a saree so give it a shot..!

dunno....I think big bum will look even bigger in saari.

sarees look good on every figure!!!!

If it's a good, flowy fabric, it can minimize the bulk around the hip area.

Just, please, make sure your blouse is fitted properly! too many ppl think saree blouse is just a short kameez, it's NOT....it has to be fitted like a bra...A loose fitting kameez is okay, but a loose fitting saree blouse looks sloppy and ill fitting.

I always thought they made girls look elegant - I've seen plenty of short girls an 'bigger' girls in saris, and if they're draped elegantly, can look brilliant.

I say yes!

it depends also on the way you drape it :)

Look up some youtube tutorials...i think a sari suits everyone :)

Thanks everyone for replies, my saree is in chiffon, black blouse with silver work and white saree with black zarri work on it, I tried it again a while ago and showed it to mu husband he said it looks fine, I’m not concerned about me bieng shortest as I’ll wear 5 inches heal with it; just a bit worried about my bum,:bummer:

what does curvy mean here?
i think sari looks better on someone who is curvy as in has a chest and a bum, than a skinny anorexic looking woman,
if the term curvy is used for someone who is overweight and has rolls and a paunch then i dont know really.

Agree.. Chiffons and georgettes are usually much easier to pull off and look lovely..

I find them really elegant..

You need to have curves in the right place to wear sarees. Without adequate bum saree doesn't look good. If you have too much bum then invest in a very firm girdle.....they can do wonders for a girl with a belly, big bum, and thighs. Girdles tend to expensive but are worth it if you can withstand discomfort
