Saqoot e Dhaka - Pakistan Army

Re: Saqoot e Dhaka - Pakistan Army

1971 is used by anti military politicians, who are usually more concerned with hiding their corruption and greed for power, and less interested in facts.

Apart from what you quoted above, it is equally important to watch interviews (there are tons of them) of Gen. Manekshaw, the then COAS of India. According to him, the 1971 war was planned well in advance, and Pak army had no chance, because ‘we’ had planned for the military invasion 9 months prior. And in his own words, the Pak army, despite being cut off from mainland Pakistan, despite being without weapons and rations and supplies, and most importantly, without support from Pakistani politicians, both eastern and western, fought gallantly. But the physical divide between East and West Pakistan made it impossible for them to fight a sustained war.

Irrespective of what Mujib’s 6 point agenda was, the bottomline was that he won the elections fair and square. Yahya and Bhutto were complicit, among others, and caused major damage to Pakistan in more than one way
