They will open threads with same title and same content in multiple forums.
They will post religious topics in café and café topics in religion forum.
They will be very aggressive in the initial stages of their orientation to these forums will inadvertently end up insulting to others and either get a ban , warning or infarction.
They do not know that they are not supposed to post 3 or more consecutive posts in a thread.
They want a custom avatar from day one.
Some will post in all upper case.
So can we have some kind of sand box area where new guppies can practice posting and learn all those etiquettes of posting in forums before we let them lose on real GS forums ? This area can have a few sub forums for religion , current affairs , random thoughts , serious discussion. The thread from these forums can be transfered to main forms after some cleaning.
This will help in keeping the spammers confined to this area. Once these newbies have accumulated their 25 posts or whatever number is decided they can be allowed to post in other forums.
Please share some ideas and thoughts about this idea or any other way of taking care of these issues.
I think its a good idea..... but again.. will they post in sandbox.. will they stay after knowing..they have to practice is sandbox before allowing in normal forums...... etc..etc
And how do you know that ? Read my post above , I have seen something similar but not exactly like this at some forums. So practicality of implementation can only be determined by admins of this site.

I'm fairly new to this forum, but have actively participated (and continue to participate) in many others.
I think a "sandbox" would be a great idea for GS. Primarily to discourage spammers and shameless self-promoters. I've opened countless threads where a guppie asks about a particular vendor and a couple months later a completely new user posts a hyperbolic review. It's obviously not genuine and can be terribly misleading for unsuspecting users.
From what I have witnessed, the heart of GS is a couple dozen serious members who keep the momentum going on the forum. It makes sense to weed out those who aren't valuable contributors.
On the other hand this would significantly decrease site traffic. Tough call for forum admin.
