Re: sana safinaz website

Sana Safinaz do not have a website - I remember them clearly stating they weren't "Internet Friendly", when I visited them in May, to the extent that that have no email address either!

How do they even communicate with the outside world???

Re: sana safinaz website

hahhahaha thats really funny! they are aliens !! i still didnt get the fact.. the designers acutally want to sell their stuff and especially clients from abroad appreciate their work and such things.. so why dont the start to bit professional in this way...

Re: sana safinaz website

The truth of the matter is such designers don't really care. A majority of the established designers, who've been in the business a long time already have a very loyal clientele in Pakistan. Note that Bunto Kazmi, Faiza Samee, Rizwan Beyg and Sana Safinaz, neither of them have websites up and running. They're only exposure to the outside world comes through attending event shows abroad and that seems sufficient for them...

I think they do have a website. chk

360 DEGREES (GUDDU & SHANI)

some of their designs are there in the fashion pics

Re: sana safinaz website

i agree, zigs. its also word of mouth that their business is based on- they're couture houses- people come to them, they don't seek out new business. i heard yesterday though that bunto charges as much as 8 lakhs for one of her jora's. isn't that nuts? but then i'm also thinking from what i've seen of some of her stuff, and the amount of swarovski's that she uses, that it must be worth it!

Re: sana safinaz website

do u think they use real swarovskis for the work ????? how can u be so sure of this...

WOW, 8 lakh huh?
well Umar Sayeed now charges up to 12,000 which I know is somewhere higher then 8 Lakh /-

I know its nuts but the fact that they can now even consider keeping their prices that much def. says that their business is on & booming

Re: sana safinaz website

whaaaat 8 lakhs... thats more than fazool kharchi and haraam! i couldnt sleep when i would buy such an expensive dress !! and thaaaaats more ridicilous... how often would u were such kind of dress... and especially u would be afraid to make wholes and such things in such kind of a dress !! thats really exagareted (i hope its written like this:S)

Re: sana safinaz website

that's absolutely right SGC - people go to them. I remember what great pains I had to go through just to find there contact details when I was in Pakistan. Except for sana Safinaz, the others don't even bother advertising in magazines, because they don't need to!

An 8 lakh jora from Bunto must be Swarming with crystals all over - probably even visible from space lol...

Twinkle - Bunto claimed she used actual swarovski on her outfits. I can visibly see the difference between the crystals that Bunto used on my bhaabi's outfit and a couple of others with with crystal work from other designers. There is defintely a remarkable difference between the quality of crystals...

Re: sana safinaz website

hmm...but for me thats a bit crazy to spend sooo much money...dunno it would hurt me soo much....

Ive heard people even spend now 1crore for wedding dress in pak.. and thats more then weirdo and ridiculous...
of course it shuld be something special bla bla bla and all this kind of stuff...but we should keep in mind.. that there are people especially in pak they cant even afford 10.000 -15-000rps dresses.

me just coming from pak.. and u know.. i always came back from shopping and talking about nonsense like.. i didnt find a perfect jhoora bla bla bla blaaaaa

and the kaam waali at home.. she is about 24/25 she cant even buy a lehnga for 3.000rps...she saved 38.000rps for her wedding but her dad had cancer and so she had to spend all the money for his medicines... and unfortunatly he died than...

u know dont want to be now mother teresa.. but sometimes we should keep in mind not to spend soooooo much.....

of course i love talking about the girls stuff and the preparation for engagement, wedding bla bla blaaaa...but never forget the people who are under us ....

okay I thought $12,000 was crazy but 1 million rupees?
Thats dumb! I cant even belive that

Re: sana safinaz website

yeah...i also couldnt believe it.. but a friend there was telling thats true.. that the riches spend sooooo much money!!

and thats really haram! to spend so much money for a dress which u are wearing few hours!!

Re: sana safinaz website

yeah that too but also like you said, some people cant even afford those 10-15,000 rupee dresses

well its their own wedding so they can do w/e they want, but I know for a fact that its VERY stupid to do that

Re: sana safinaz website

twinkle, i think when you got to bunto for a dress and she says swarovski kaam, she means swarovski kaam. its her integrity as a designer, outside of her apparent skill and taste, that you trust and pay for, you know?
although i make jewellery for fun, and i know swarovski's are not that pricey when you buy them wholesale, but perhaps its tough to acquire them in pakistan and thats why its so expensive.
here, its $90 for about 500 crystals, if i remember correctly. if you trust your designer, you might as well buy them from here and then have the kaam wala's embellish your dress with them. swarovski sparkle is very unique from other crystals- it'd be easy to spot fakes.

i'm sure french net and chiffon cost an arm and a leg on their own, and then you top that with intricate kaam and there you go, 8 lakhs before you know it.

as an aside, has anyone seen french Alencon lace used in a paki wedding dress before? i've always wanted a lace gharara or lehenga, or even just a dupatta in lace - i think it would be gorgeous with tone on tone kaam with pearls and crystals drool
alencon lace is handmade in france so its really, really expensive... zigs, did you see anything similar, by any chance, while you were researching in pakistan?

Re: sana safinaz website

my chachi bought her dress in india from the designer boutique 'Kimaya' and i think she spent around $5000 over 5 yrs ago. when she was getting married she was pregnant and as a result was unable to fit in the shirt, so she ended up using the dupatta to make a completely new shirt and ended up going to buy alencon lace for the dupatta, it cost her around $200/ yd. unfortunately i still havent seen teh complete dress and i think she cant even find it.

Re: sana safinaz website

^ dang. thats gotta be upsetting- losing your wedding dress, i mean.
