Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

TRUE!

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

wats the problem again?? :bummer:

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

^This.

The Vogue India editorial was just a fashion shoot. And it show rich ppl flaunting their wealth to the less fortunate. Instead it shows the poorer sections of society in extremely hi-end designer gear not carrying it for their "masters".

Here SS seems to want to desperately portray that ladies who wear their clothes by default also wear LV . The seem to riding high on the LV brand. A bit snooty !!

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

I agree. I thought that was a bizarre aspect of the ad. I wonder if LV will object

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

Nomi, I think it’s simply that the woman in the pic seems to be proudly flaunting her overpriced designer casual outfit with her army of servants or the “lower” class surrounding her and carrying her pricey things for her.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

So there is outrage against that.

Then others are objecting to the self-righteous tone of the outrage because that is hypocritical. One reason it's disturbing and objectionable is that it holds up a very honest mirror to ourselves.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

Also, the ad seems almost more like a photo-journalistic commentary critical of the fashion industry. It's just not something that makes me want to BUY their stuff.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

LV bags are not the problem. Its the use of the poor as accessory that is causing such a debate. Look at the printed ad. The SS brand name is on the faces of these porters. They are faceless humans who are at service to the rich and fabulous.
As if t is not enough that one SS lawn suit sell for more than what these poor porters probably make in a month, SS is using them to sell their stuff now.
However, in fashion bussiness all around the world, provocative material is used to stir an interest in the brand name. It is nothing new. But there is always a purpose behind it. Marketing spends hours in doing story boards and research before launching a campaign.
I want to know what was the purpose of SS to use these porters in the background. I want to know the story board. It should be more than oh lets copy Vogue because we are incapable of original ideas.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

I want LV to issue a Cease and Desist letter to S... anyone who doesn't know who or what Sana Safinaz is will think its an LV ad.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

oohh......

but designer clientèle is that class of people who find nothing wrong with such ideas/behaviour/portrayal.........

it IS the reality.........

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

Looking at the way Pakistani fashion industry runs, I doubt any fashion house has a dedicated professional marketing board. The ad is so wrong and amateurish on so many levels. It took me a second to notice there is a model somewhere in this ad who is supposed to advertising her lawn jora, the main product apparently.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

The porter's face just made me feel so sad. These ppl have it sooooo tough. The pakistani elite have really lost it, if you can't help someone out of their miserable state at least don't rub your wealth in their faces.

Just simple decency, but then our society has become all about flaunt and show. Afsoos sadd afsoos

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

Actually, I don't know if that's completely true. I was talking to my cousin about this. I'm sure there are some people who like being portrayed as self-centered and spoiled, but not everyone who wears designer labels sees herself that way. Fashion advertisements are not just selling a product, but also an image. I think many SS clients might not see themselves as part of the above image.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

I agree. It's very poorly executed.

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

All this talk about using LV in their ad and look what I came across on Sunday !!!

This is beyond hilarious !! Why oh why did the designer, Asima Rushna put an LV logo on his/ her creation ???

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

:smack:

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

well in pak if someone gets CONTROVERTIOL it means more popularity…

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

My guess is that after years of buying second hand LV stuff, the designer probably thought its some landa bazar brand…and hence no fear of litigation

Well not just Pak, its true for everywhere

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign – What do you think?

Asima & Rushna did a “Designer Logo” collection, here is another picture with Ralph Lauren’s Polo logo:

Re: Sana Safinaz Controversial new ad campaign -- What do you think?

And I wonder how many of you would still be buying a SS outift or will be going ohh aha over SS suits. Lets look at it this way, some poor coolies got a job and maybe earned some money from this shoot. I am not saying that this add is good or bad, it just doesnt stir any emotions in me yet.
