Sami: the next Pak bowling sensation?

He needs to get some experienced and should play in place of Shoaib Akhtar who is unfit for the half of his life.....

Jeerablade, he is no where close to being a medium pace, he bowled a 147 kmph in the last South Africa match.
I think he is the 3rd fastest in the world.
Ofcourse Shoaib is fastest but M sami is also fast and a very good bowler.

Why do we have to look for faults when we have got such a talent on our hands? For someone as inexperienced as he is I think he's pretty accurate. Wasim and Waqar get belted around in easy batting conditions as well. Chris Cowdrey and David Lawrence were raving about him in the studio, and the SA commentators were all saying what a fine bowler he looked. He's way ahead of Aaqib, and Mohd Zahid ain't the player he was after his back injury.

Force of habit :)

Yep Ehsan, the lad’s a class act, some people can spot it others can’t :hehe:

I think the lad’s arrived as a bowler, maybe not a sensation yet, but he’s definitely a star on the rise. Great opening spell today, where he could have had 5 wickets if the lbw shouts had gone his way.

Cracking bowler :k:

His class cannot be questioned but I think he will have truly arrived when he starts picking up those five-wicket hauls.

I'll be honest, I haven't seen much of him at all. But my impression is that he's a genial sort of a guy. Perhaps he needs a develop a bit of an attitude and a ruthless streak like all past greats. At the fag end of innings, he should be rattling the tail and not vice versa. This is something he will have to pick up if he wants to become a great bowler.

Either way, look forward to him picking up many more wickets.

He's definitely gained an extra yard of pace. Zimbawe batsmen were clearly rattled by his hostility. He's bowling consistently in the 90's now and I think he's got enough to threaten most batting line ups - but he still needs to add the one that leaves batsmen. Much better use of the short ball than Shoaib which has got him a few wickets in this tournament.

He is an excellent bowler, good line and length, and a perfect start. But he is still in learning phase. And I bet Miandad will take good care of that.

Agree with Xtreme, the lad has a great potential and with a little more coaching from the two W's he will in time become a very good find for Pakistan. If only Shoaib can go through a tournament without breaking down then they can form quite a fearsome opening partnership.

He didn't break down in the WC.

The way he performed I wish he had. He might not have broken down physically but bowling wise he was a goner during the WC

Mr Xtreme, well predicted. He is def a rising star.
I note there were a few in this thread that said this guy is just another ordinary bowler, where are they now?

Well, they had a point in that he's not the finished article yet, but he hasn't played that much cricket yet so that's hardly surprising.

The potential is starting to turn into the real deal now though.

People this is what I have to say about this young man. This guy will become the next Wasim Akram(only right handed). This guy has great potential for a fast bowler. He has a short run up, a whipping action. Unlike Akhtar, he can conserve his energy all the way till' the 50th over. He can swing the ball both ways just like Wasim bhai. With some quality coaching from Miandad he's going to improve very quickly. When Wasim bhai is long retired we will rely on this man to do a good job. He's becoming a big star.

hes a good bowler....i think bowlers like akram n sarfaraz nawaz should guide him!

A great opening bowler....well supported by Umar Gul who is also bowling tight....but Amir Sohain hinted that Shoaib Akhtar will be back soon if he wasn't joking then i'll lose respect for Amir Sohail coz we don't need that Shoaib Akhtar anymore coz all PCB does is pay for his trips to england/aus for his treatments n all n he doesn't do $hit....if he just bowls in one game n then is out we don't need him...got better ones on the line

I agree with you spitfire, I also cant stand the guy's attitude, he should be slapped across the face with a Bata slipper.

We won a cherry blossom Sharjah cup not Wc. You guys are already writing off Shoaib akhtar- a rare god gifted talent. Yes he performed poorly in WC so did everyone! I strongly believe under the guidance of Miadad he will concentrate more on his line and length and will be better than ever. The synergy of Shaoib and Sami will be too much for the opposition.

If he can listen to instructions, change his attitude to other players (by not thinking he is it) and not be obsessed with speed and more on getting wickets and sami is not kicked out to make way for him, then yes he should come back.

Now the pressure will be more on shaoib and Inzi if they make a comeback. The "senior and superstar" stamp on their rare end won't do much good anymore. They will have to comply with the current management otherwise tata..
