So like whaddya do when u go to a salon…and they totally botch the job or in extreme cases cause bodily harm??
In the last year and a half, my toe ended up bleeding from a pedicure
for my wedding, my nails were just poorly done, glue was still left on the fingers etc
went to depilex for waxing and the girl left the wax on too long and was bz chatting w/ her friend and i ended up with big huge purple bruises
and today..got a horrible haircut
I mean what do u do in such cases? do u make a big fuss or just stay quiet? wat abt payment, i mean i find it unfair to have to pay if they do a crappy job, but is it wrong to bring payment into it?? like i’ve heard of ppl who go to restaurants and make huge fusses just so the management will give them a free meal (not sure how true it is, but i dont want to be that person).. =/
I sued my hair stylist, did I tell you that? Haha, it was funny. So basically my hair was past my waist long which I had not cut for almost 6 years. I went for minor trimmings hair and there until I decided to get layers. First full fledged hair cut was great, so were the couple of them that followed. That was probably cuz I went to the same stylist who cut my hair each time and he was awesome. So God knows what happened to me while shopping one day that I just decided to get a trim from some salon nearby. I knew she wasn't doing it right because she was cutting it without even spraying water or washing my hair. She looked pissed for whatever reason and I kept pointing it out that the hair didn't look good at all. I didn't expect any significance changes obviously cuz it was just a trim but it looked kinda messed up. She and this other stylist who came over when I was making the fuss kept assuring me that it looked fine and I should wash it and blow dry it blah blah blah. So after shower, my sister is like, what in the world did you do to your hair???!!! I ended up going back to my stylist and I saw his face in the mirror after he washed and combed out my hair. Then he held up almost all my hair to say, Just to fix what she did to your hair, I have to chop off atleast 10 inches. My heart stopped, I was soooooooo attached to my hair. Even he was so sad and he tried to make me feel better and all but short hair it was. I thought it looked nice but I WAS PISSED! I came back, called that damn salon, the girl there asked me to talk to the manager who was like let me see who cut your hair.. guess what? It was the manager herself!!! I was like, I don't want any stupid refunds back, I am gonna sue you for ruining my hair that took me soooo many years to grow out. I did consult a lawyer basically cuz I was so PISSED but my family and fiance found it hilarious.. they were like, OHH you're suing a hairstylist.. let us call news channels and tell them. I guess I realized it eventually it was silly of me to get that mad but I still haven't forgotten about it :(
Ohh and I once went to this Indian place to get my eyebrows done. I have this favorite stylist who does them for me each time but she wasn't there so this other girl started doing it. She did one and I flipped. It was SO BAD! I was like forget it and I got up and left. She just stood there like, you're really leaving???!! and I was like YEAH, I don't wanna ruin both of them. I am just gonna go to someone who can fix them for me. It was kind of mean on my part to walk out like that but hey, my eyebrows are very important to me :)

I just have such a difficult time finding a decent place u know, i really wish i hadn't been so kanjoos and just gone to a nice salon in the neighborhood instead of going to a typical ghetto salon in bronx/queens/bklyn/lahore. Nxt time sahi.. :(
I know, right. Well, even upscale salons mess up big time but with them, you can argue, ask for refunds or simply make a fuss and they have a rep to protect so they will do whatever to keep you happy :)
^ I dunno… i had a horrible experience at Depilex in Lahore.. And had a wonderful experience at a very unknown salon a few blocks (gullies?) down…I wish i cud just go to pak and have everything done there…
Ugh, now the wait begins… 3 months
Oh, i used to go to JH all the time for my threading til this one woman did a totally crappy job, she didnt’ rub any lotion nothing into my face, and left the hair all fallen…and then she had hte nerve to say “tip please” and held out her hand!!! Its been a year and a half since i been back there… kameenay laug
sara, thats painful! you should definitely cause a fuss in all of those situations! especially with manis and pedis and especially when you bleed because you could develop infections and whatnot from their carelessness. in all of those cases i know i would have been very vocal and refused to pay. just walk right out next time but not before letting them know how bad their service was.
shay, dude, i think you should have gone ahead and sued that woman for emotional distress!! jackpot! holy, i can't even imagine how pissed off i'd be. good for you though for standing up for yourself. did she at least apologise?
Stop rubbing salt into the wound, no the whoel time i had a look on my face, but she kept blabbering some incoherent nonsense, and the more she spoke, the angrier i got, i was like “NO! I dont like it” but then the rest of the women in teh salon were like “no its really nice, whats wrong w/ it”
sgc- she didn't until i said i was gonna sue her! she acted how she did while cutting my hair, all weird and pissy. it was more like, come into the store and get your credit back. when i told her i didn't want it back and i am gonna sue her, she was like, sue me? i am sorry.. blah blah blah.. i was just like whatever, if you don't know how to cut hair, GO LEARN and hung up. then i guess she got a letter from my attorney and all but i cant believe everyone in my family made so much fun of me for doing that :( so i just backed off.

I’ve gone a thru quite a few salons for eyebrows. First ones did them okay but had arrogance/attitude the size of jupitor, so i said screw them, I don’t need to feel like they are doing me a favor.
Second salon owner had a nice attitude, but then as her customer population grew, she was hardly around b/c she was juggling between 2 locations, and i’d have to get it done from various staff of hers. The result - my eyebrows came uneven at the base…a very slight difference that came apparent in pictures and stuff, and became a big deal b/c i actually started noticing it. So i said goodbye to her as well. One girl had the nerve to go close to “pencil thin” on my eyebrows cuz it was so ‘in’ so i was very curt with her and told her i didn’t need her to tell me what would look good on, i had just asked to clean it up. How hard is that moron.
3rd ones a charm isn’t it? Well im currently with a lady, who treats me like a daughter and does my eyebrows every time i go…and thank God over time my eyebrows look even and good. She does my eyebrows great, but i think my hair can do better…so i’m on the search for a new salon..i was actually going to go for a hispanic place but after your experience sarah! I don’t know man.
sara, you can always call them and say that you washed and blow dried your hair and it looks terrible. either have them fix it for you or to return back your money. go calllllllll.
don't be! call them, be polite but firm... tell them you feel they did a bad job on your hair and you would either like a refund or would like their top stylist to fix it for free. its the least they can do! why should you have to live with their mistake/incompetence??
i went in for waxing at newlook...lahore...
and even though i kept on telling that girl that the wax is "too" hot,she kept on insisting that its supposed to be that way....:(
result=i have a few burn marks on my arm....:(
oh ...and i haven't had a nice satisfactory haircut ,in what seems like ages...
i have tried almost everything....fancy salons to desi ladies....
and every time i end up saying nothing plus paying them plus a tip...:(
