Not really....
The holocaust, first of all were part of anti-nazi laws written in 1947 to prevent nazis from gathering, conducting meetings, which including denying the holocaust
As for offending muslims....instead of rioting, getting into a hysteria, why don't you challenge rushdie to a debate and protest in a more civil manner than the wild animalistic reactions that occur from muslims whenever something like this happens

and its not just about denying the holocaust it did happen....but try and say something anti semetic and youll lose friends fast!
And muslims have a right to protest in a way they like if someone says something about someone who they love so dearly.....i dont think really they should care who thinks what of them!
