i agree completely. people who are rejoicing his death among my family and friends do not believe him to be blasphemous (the real motive behind his killing) but rejoice nonetheless for reasons such as he was ‘corrupt’ ‘immoral’ ‘drunkard’ ‘atheist’ ‘womaniser’ etc etc basically he was made a scapegoat in venting all the frustrations ppl have been harbouring against this govt. otherwise might as well kill 90 % of the politicians in pakistan then for similar reasons

Even if all what you have stated about Taseer is true all these acts did not hurt anyone else except may be his own family. The guy had a lot of qualities as well.. he was known to take stands for whatever he felt was right in spite of all the odds:

1. He took a public stand against state persecution of Ahmadi community.
2. He took stand against controversial blasphemy laws.
3. He too stand for Kalabagh dam in spite of of his party’s otherwise point of view.
4. Being in Governor house he was considered a business friendly guy. He was the only person in present PPP government with whom business people could relate because he used to take stand with them for energy issues/any other issue which hurts the business generation even against his own government.

True the family is a bit ultra liberal for Pakistani standards… but don’t the liberal people have a right to live in Pakistan. I don’t agree what TLK is saying that it has to do with economic situation of the people. It has to do with certain mind set which is intolerant and becomes violent when someone tends to disagree with them. The irony is these intolerant people do not even realize that something is wrong with this mindset.
