LOL… I think your just clutching at straws here.
The point wasnt how its celbrated today, but where BASANT ORIGINATED!
Actually because your to stupid to actually check, but that link is to a HINDU website, not Wikipedia.
Ok. Let me get this straight.
Here you have two holidays, which are actually the same, with the same name, celebrated in two different parts of the SAME country, by the very SAME people (Hindus in this case.)
The Website says that the origins of the Basant festival or Spring festival is the same as the Saraswati puja.
Now you dont deny this. YOU simply say that its not celebrated in such a way in Northern India.
Now just because its not celebrated as Sarawati Puja today in parts of India, including in Pakistan, that doesnt change the fact that the ORIGINS of this holiday are the Saraswati Puja.
Now again, you said that Basant Panchtami is nothing more then the celebration of Spring, and we all know that.
But what getting at is the actual orign. THE question is NOT how its celbrated today, but what the festival was meant to be about.
The point was that the BASANT festival has its origins in Saraswati Puja.
“The day of Basant Panchami is dedicated to Goddess Sarasvati”
AND
“The festival is celebrated with full vivacity and festivity to mark the end of the winters..”
It seems to me that the Basant of North India and the Basant celebrated as Saraswati Puja in Eastern India, have the same origins.
So technically, we in Pakistan and in North INDIA ARE celebrating a HINDU HOLDIAY devoted to Hindu goddess.
Re: Salman celebrates Ganesh immersion.
The point I was making was that just like we Muslim of PAkistan celebrate the Hindu festival Basant, which is meant to be the worship of the goddess Saraswati, by turning it into a secular holiday, so have Muslims of India taken part in Hindu festivals like this Ganesh dip by turning it into nothing more then going out for a swim with Hindu friends...

^ Another ignorant post from a Wikipedia expert ![]()
If your birthday falls on April 1, would you celebrate your birthday or April fools day ?
Basant Panchami is not the same as Sarawati Puja. Saraswati Puja happens to fall on the fifth day of Basant month. It is celebrated in Bengal etc as a religious festival, and in Punjab/Haryana as a cultural festival.
NO. thats from a HINDU website.. It even says INDIA SITE . COM!
Your not denying it so I assume im right…
Basant IS a celebration of the goddess Saraswati.
We have turned it into a secular holiday and celebrate it.. Bug whup!
Indian Muslims celbrate Hindu festivals by turning them into secular events just like Basant..
If thats tolerance and brotherhood, then I guess we Pakistanis are just as tolerant.
Along with Basant, April Fools day is the only other Indian holiday I actually celebrate… ![]()
Whats more Indian then celbrating the fools of India?!?!
Re: Salman celebrates Ganesh immersion.
^ OK Einstein, read this from the same website -
It this festival was just associated with Goddess Saraswati, why would people pray to “various” deities ? Think about it.
And if you still want to disagree just for the sake of disagreeing, be my guest. I rest my case !!
P.S. Its apt that a Pakistani celebrates the fools of India, given that all of them moved to Pakistan in 1947 ![]()
They can pray to each other for all I care. Bottom line is its a Hindu festival…
They can pray to each other for all I care. Bottom line is its a Hindu festival...
Then why do Sikhs in Punjab celebrate it ?
Then why do Sikhs in Punjab celebrate it ?
Because it has become a scular holdiay. But that was not the point. The point is that its origins are in Hinduism.

you must be a Hindu. A Muslim is not supposed to advise others to pray to each other
