Salman Butt as Captain...

Re: Salman Butt as Captain...

He shook things up...Kirsten,Adams,Kulusener,Boje were the initial casulties and even Pollock and Boucher were dropped for a while to get their attitude and their game right.

Pakistan too has proven talent in Shoaib Malik, Yousef, Younis, Gul, Asif, etc - we simply need a young leader with no personal baggage and someone who will not be a liability on the side. Younis Khan's inconsistent batting and poor attitude should not be a source of inspiration for the future of Pakistan cricket, as he has rarely delivered when it matters.

Look at it this way, Salman Butt is 22 and will be 26 by the time the next world cup rolls in, Younis is already 29 and will be 33, Yousef is 32 and will be 36 - so both of these guys will be well past their prime by the next World Cup, especially Yousef - who is already a liability running between the wickets and on the field. Younis on the other hand, just does not show the skills at tough times which can make him a great batsman. He is simply not in the class of Saeed Anwar, Inzamam Ul Haq or even Mohammad Yousef.

I would say that Yousef and Younis shouldnt even be in the ODI team, they should be played only in test matches. The ODI team should be for young players in their 20's who can gain experience during the next 4 years and challenge the big guns on merit - look at South Africa's example and even Sri Lanka...did they think twice about dropping a former captain and class player like Atapattu in favor of Dilshan or Silva? No they didnt...because unlike in Pakistan, the Sri Lankans look at performance first....seniority second.
