Its not the salan Tikhi, its just the crappy smell of Detriot...your only remedy is to escape...leave detriot. :)

I hate the smell of onions cooking!!!! So we try to open our windows while cooking and lataer on light candles. I love candles from Pier 1.

I hate the smell of salan early in the morning. Just keep the stove near the window and make sure the exhaust fan is turned on throughout the cooking and still 1/2 hr, after the cooking is done.

mmmm desi food usually smells pretty good to me...we dont cook red meat or lamb (since it stinks) but the smell of zeera and onions frying is really good....
tikhi there are air freshners that neutralize odors...u could try that.
