Names of certain cities are suitable if someone uses that alongwith their Takhalus or Pen name. Example being Sahir Ludhyanwi, Daagh Dehlvi.
But not all city names got such flexibility to be used by literary person. Imagine a poet using Lahori with his name.
What do you say about this? Which cities in your opinion can’t be used as Takhalus by poets / writers. I still have to see someone using title ‘Karachwi’

poets ke nam ka problem ho sakta hai magar last names to alag alag tarahse cities ke names se attach hosakte hain...
karachiwala nam ka koi parsi ya memon ho sakta hai....
in maharashtra some last names are based on name of the city,town or village...
E.g. from nagpur we can have Nagpure/Nagpurey....or Nagpurkar....

This is not that common in Pakistan, I believe the ones who follow this religiously are Gujaratis... :)

Most of the castes in Memon are basically names of different towns in India. Kutchi (Kutch), KathiyawaRi (KathiyawaaR), Bantwa (Bantwa Nagar) and list goes on

Bukhari (from Bukhara) are also in abundance in Pakistan. Z A Bukhari, Naeem Bukhari are some famous personalities. I've yet to see some Samarqandi :D
