Hot or not - as a general principle?
Also who uses it more? Women or men?

Re: Safe zoned
Safe zone = friend zone? So women
Re: Safe zoned
Yup. Basically no desire at any level of anything sexual or romantic.
Re: Safe zoned
I think women use it more, but I’ve known some men to use it as well ![]()
I think it’s just a matter of getting common understanding to prevent any future awkwardness about mixed signals.
And safezoned people can be hot ![]()
Re: Safe zoned
LMAO! I meant is the principle hot or not. As in do you agree with it the notion of safe zoned or not. Seriously....we all know you think you are hot. No need for more pictures :D

What awkwardness? The man is still trying to get with her and the woman pretends she’s oblivious. Win-win.
Re: Safe zoned
Sheesh! Now don’t go starting rumours.
And it was a play on words, Sunshine!
Acha
I may be the only believer in platonic friendships then. But I totally believe it’s possible for guy-girl friendships with no ulterior motives.

CM will now bring that video back in 3...2....
Re: Safe zoned
Quick question - is it possible for both parties to safe zone each other at the same time, and not be attracted to each other without having to categorise them as 'frandship zone'? Or is there always someone checking the other one out.
(I ask but my opinion is that it's possible. Doesnt happen a lot but it's still possible)

Unless you can read the other person's mind, there's no way to be absolutely sure.
Re: Safe zoned
What if you both look at each other and both of you are like 'Defo not my type at all' sorta thing? No attraction, so let's be friends etc etc.
Re: Safe zoned
Very good question!
So if I understand correctly maybe before one or other safe-zoned the other, one may have been checking the other out. But once the safe-zoning happened, the other accepted the platonic friendship?
But does it matter what one thought at the beginning - isn’t the current safe-zoning good enough?
Re: Safe zoned
Re: Safe zoned
Well I spose I asked cos the original question was, who does it more, men or women.
I can think of a couple of friendships I have where from the very beginning, there was no flirting/subtle body language/etc etc cos there was no intention/possibility of doing so. I don't deny that safe-zoning doesnt happen, sure it does. I'm more looking at whether it's possible to mutually do it at the same time in the beginning and just not really check each other out etc etc.
Re: Safe zoned
^ Okay, so that brings up another question/thread idea. Flirting. Can you harmlessly flirt with a friend who's just a friend? Sometimes I think that if you laugh with a guy/girl not your spouse/SO, people see your interaction as flirting when there's no sexual undertones to it.
Re: Safe zoned
Yeah it’s totally possible, but I’m just saying that one party will never know for 100% what the other one is thinking. And by party I don’t mean myself ![]()
Re: Safe zoned
Mixed-gender friendships are fine with me, so I can attest to the fact that they're possible. When I was in college, there were even times when more of my friends were men than women. When I'm friends with a woman, however that doesn't mean we're in each others' friend zones. It just indicates an absence of romantic attraction, or some other reason why a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship wouldn't work at that time. Is it possible for unbalanced attraction to occur, where the feelings aren't mutual? Of course, but that doesn't suggest a friend zone to me. It just suggests that those two aren't right for each other.

When Harry met Sally anyone? ![]()

Re: Safe zoned
i think it's a way of leading men on.
some women use these backup guys to fluff up their ego and still garner attention when theyre not getting it from whoever they want it from.
i dunno why men do it. i think to feel all manly and in demand.
