~! Saddest Story I've ever Heard.

Assalamalikum,

I heard of this guy who had a new baby. Someone congratulated him, and he said, yeah its another girl…sighs.

Some people don’t realize the importance of daughters. They feel it a burden to have one. You have to take care of her, raise her up, keep her protected, waste your time on her, do all that just to send her off to live with someone else.

Since the beginning, sons were given preference over daughters. And I really thought islam eradicated this sick ideology. However, its present today.

People still don’t realize that women have value. And some people don’t realize the value islam gives to women.

The reason I’m making this post is because I keep meeting people who are not happy to have daughters. I’m surprised this ideology exists today!

Allah has promised that person (who takes care of his daughters) paradise!

There is a famous story of a person from the time of the Prophet Pbuh. It goes something like this. This is a true story, and i’m just recalling it in the near meaning.

The Story

There was a man who came up to the Prophet pbuh one day.
He asked, “Does Allah forgive all sins?”
The Prophet pbuh replied, “All but not shirk.”
The man asked again, “Does he forgive all sins?”
The Prophet pbuh replied again, “All but not shirk.” This time he added, “Why do you ask? What has happened?”

So the man told him his story.

The man lived in mecca with his wife. He had no children. He went away on a trip once, and came back months later. (this is not unusual because travelling in those days took a long time.) Over the course when he was gone, his wife gave birth to a beautiful little girl. His wife knew that the father would not accept her, because that was the norm of society, and if you had a daughter in those days, you were a disgrace to society; it was a shame to have a daughter.

So when the husband returned, the wife told him that this little girl belonged to the neighbours. The husband thanked god that it wasn’t his.

However, over time, the girl used to be at their house most of the time. The man was fond of her, and developed a good relationship with her. When the girl got a bit older, the husband had developed a good and fun relationship with her.

When he went on trips he wold bring her something back, and love her like his own daughter -little did he know…she was his daughter.

When the girl was around 5-6, the wife saw that good relationship had developed between the two, so she decided…to tell him.

One day the wife approached him and told him the truth. The man got outraged. He got angry, and upset at the wife. He started to worry about what people would say. What would they do to him! What will they think!

He was drowning in shame!

So the man called the girl to him. She came thinking he was going to play with her.

He told her he was going to take her somewhere to play, and she loving him very much, got excited at the idea.

The man and his daughter left the house, he took her far away, and stopped in the middle of nowhere.

Took out his shovel, and started to dig.

As he was digging, the mud was getting his clothes and hair all dirty. So from time to time, the little girl would stop him , smile at him, clean his clothes, and with her hands, wipe his face and the dirt off his hair.

In her mind, she thought it was a game they were playing.

When the hole was complete, he told her to step inside. She happily did -for her it was play time with her father.

Then, the man slowly started to pour the mud and sand on to her, at first she giggled, but after a little while, covered in mud, she started to cry.

She said in whatever little words she could compile, “what are you doing father? I don’t wanna play anymore..”. Tears running down her face.

The man poured the mud, until the hole was completely covered. And he could hear her crying from inside the earth.

As he walked away, he could hear her screaming from inside her grave, until there was no more sound.

And this is just a jist of what state the Arab world was in.

The man started to weep in front of the Prophet pbuh.

And the Prophet pbuh said, “Don’t worry. Allah will forgive even this sin of yours”

SUBHANALLAH! Such is the religion of islam, and the mercy of our lord.

This story always brings tears to my eyes.

And I can’t even imagine doing that to my sister, let alone my own daughter.

Love your daughters, and treat your women like the Prophet pbuh would have.

May Allah guide us all :frowning:

Re: ~! Saddest Story I’ve ever Heard.

Agree :flower1:

P.S.
I wonder sometimes , getting married would have been almost impossible in those days. Cause boys (men) would outnumber the girls by almost 90 - 10 , and those 10 would be the cases such as the one that you have mentioned.

Just curious
:chai:

Re: ~! Saddest Story I've ever Heard.

That is just sick and demented. :(

But I guess one hardly steps back and looks at how merciful Allah(swt), even to some of the most horrible things us puny humans do :(

Re: ~! Saddest Story I've ever Heard.

as far as i know men do not hate daughters.

my father always encouraged us and was more liberal to us than our brother.
because a daughter builds the character of the new generations.
may allah give strenght to all men to love and accept their daughters as a gift of allah (aamen)

Re: ~! Saddest Story I've ever Heard.

and the sad fact is, that this is still the thinking of many of our desi families in today's time..

"Whoever takes care of two girls until they reach adulthood - he and I will come (together) on the Day of Resurrection - and he interlaced his fingers (meaning in Paradise)." (Reported by Muslim)

Whoever has three daughters or sisters, or two daughters of two sisters, and lives along with them in a good manner, and has patience with them, and fears Allah with regard to them will enter Paradise." (Reported by Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhee and others)
