I heard this idiom/proverb/saying many times…what is it supposed to mean??
some people with ethnic urdu might explain the meaning..
but what kind of a saying is this??

its a made up thing. basically the assumption is that woman’s sister (the saali) is like husband’s half wife and if the wife dies or gets divorced then the husband can make her saali the full housewife (or the saali can become one herself) (adhi ghar wali tou saali pehle se hi hoti hai isliye poori banne main asaani hoti hai).
basically men always want freebies hahahahahaha. j/k
usually i have seen ppl saying saadli adhi ghar wali in two references.

husbands who are eyeing on their saali’s as in they wanna get married to them.

husbands who think “my wife was too much now her sister aswell” since usually the sister is acting in the same way as the other sister and which is annoying the husband.

So these quite good reasons to call her Aadhi ghar wali.

as far as i know the term is usually associated with unmarried saalis....kyon married saali apne husband ka dimagh kha rahi hoti hai is liye usay behn ki life main dakhal dene ka moqa hi nahi milta. hahahahahhahahaha

You guys have dirty minds.
It means that you have to obey commands of your 'ghar wali' and you cannot disrespect wishes of your ghar wali's sisters either since that would influence your status in your ghar wali's eyes and eventually your matrimonial harmony.
Everything has to be twisted at GS to make men look uglier!!!!!

Right but I for one thing find it utterly repulsive, men and women have died for saying a lot less… 
Seriously though regardless of the language to put Ghar Wali and Saali in one sentence is definately asking for trouble.
What nonsense! How can any man obey his Ghar Wali? Listen to and act on, perhaps follow a suggestion but to be commanded by a woman, Aaach kya zamana agaya hain!

Maybe you meant a different word to obey, perhaps comply with or agree to do something, obey is only for orders and as per the accords of Faith no Woman can order her Husband.

Orders and requests are two different things, if you make a request the other may deny it… but an Order has to be obeyed. No Wife can Order her husband to do anything against his wishes…
Anyway ebough of this nataak, it is evident the matter is a mountain of a molehill…

I think it means that usually sisters are so close and so in tune with how their lives work that its natural for a saali to know everything about her sister's home. I know everything about my sisters' homes.
Aadhi gharwali means she is not poori gharwali and obviously not fair game.

It has. I have yet to see any BIL saying it to his SIL. I doubt it will go well down with the inlaws.
