It just means that mostly sisters are so close that they take each other's advise in many cases. So its assumed that almost 50% of the things that someone's wife is doing are actually due to direct result of sali's advise to wife.

All other derived translation are pretty much ideas of cheap mentality.

it used in funny way, but really does not mean any vulgar.

it means, sali could also intervene in some affair of household and influence on dolha bhai.

back in the days it was a ritual (i think among urdu speakers) to send brother or sister or bowa (maid) with the bride.

hmm I think it means sali has some sort of influence on the household affairs because she is usually a verrryyyy good friend to the sister :), so she kind of runs the house.
