Irem alcohol is not allowed in work premises even if you are having a party at work during work hours. Atleast the places I have worked at.

Really Saadia! We always used to have alcohol-free drinks at all work parties at the work place.
It isn't at my office either ... none of the offices I have worked at. If people want to drink, they go outside of the office to a bar or restaurant after work.
Anyway, do you think you should approach the guy directly rather than running to the boss. You may be viewed as a snitch or taddle-tale which may harm your relationship with your co-workers if they see you running to the boss.
Really, in Europe its allowed, at least thats what I have seen here in my own office.
the alcohol flows at christmas parties
On very rare celeberatory occasions, people do have a drink or so at various companies.
Having a beer or a glass of Champaign doesn't really constitute "drinking" in terms of what you guys may think of it because it's harmless and doesn't really make you "tunn".

Well Mehnaz, I did think about this. I don't care about my relationships with them, they're not really my co-workers, we work in different shift. But yeah he's a nice guy, I mean after all he threw a party for everyone, he even went to everyone's desks and said hey there's free food in the kitchen.
So yeah you're right. I was planning to discuss it first with two close friends in the office tomorrow before going to the boss and take their advice into consideration too.
I think maybe I'll talk to the evening shift manager about this....he was there today so he knew what was going on...
Nice advice...thank you :)
I must say Irem your threads are allways interesting. :D
thanks uncle

If it isnt your usual shift, then why not let it go..Since you dont work with the "night crew" then why worry about. This isnt an everyday thing..Just be happy with your morning shift crew and go about your buisness of drinking chai and eating biscuits all day..
mitti pao
Irem, it’s about time you goddamn apologize to me too for about 10 or so time in bold, big, colorful fonts with lots of flowers and bhangra smilies. ![]()
Mehnaz, I’m not that old.
I love Bullay Shah’s poetry, that was so nice Irem. ![]()

As one of my Sardar friend's said the other day to a girl
Gurbir: "Soniaji I love you, I want to marry you"
Sonia: "But Gurbir I am one year older than you are, it will never work.."
Gurbir: "Theek hai Soniaji, I will marry you next year.."

irem, i think u've been holding pardah on ur eyes too literally..........don't tell me you didn't know that alcohol is a common good in Pakistan nowadays
She's probably from a very traditional family. In some villages in Pakistan all this stuff is pretty new.
The question is not if this stuff is around or not? If this is a norm or not? The shock is that most decent peopel will not bring beer/wine to the office and announce to every one to come drink.
Whyd do you foreign born desis get offended so easily and start bashing people with comments like "some villages in pakistan", "all problems in pakistan are becasue of foriegn born desis". Irem started the thread with not all of you baffons are like that ....but no you went right past that...maybe the whole post was too close to home.
P.S. Last I checked Pakistan was supposed to be a Muslim country ...and alcohol is banned and all that stuff that really does not matter any more in the name of being moder/educated/cultured.
