Our army is demanding something like US army powers. They want to create some war prisons like Guantanamo Bay.. where war trials can be carried out with minimum defense opportunity to these hard core criminals. All the trial proceedings are kept totally secret from general public. Special summary military courts carry out the task of prosecuting these criminals.

We can do the same… create a homeland security department. Make some out of bound detention centers in some far off places. But this is only possible if all the media and political leadership is on board and there is no major hue and cry for missing persons. We have to realize that we are in a state of war… and we must have a consensus to safe guard our innocent population from possible terrorist threat. Conventional judicial system can not work here.. US realized it.. every nation of the world realizes the same problem. Sooner we realize it.. better it will be for us..

Problem with our Army gaining the same powers as US army is that our army is yet to clean its house first. Musharraf tried that but didnt succeed. Neither did Kiyani.

Our homeland security department is a must. We should take a leaf out of saudi arabian security forces and intelligence who once were in deeper trouble than we were but they tackled the issue emphatically. And guess what, many of their security forces comprise of men from pakistani origin.
