It would have been silly for China and Pakistan to proceed so far without sorting out the engine issue. I am confident that the engine is not going to be an issue either way now.

the engine is called the WS-13 and it won't be ready for another 2 years and still is quite inferior to the RD-93.
i dont know why Pakistan and China didn't think of this when they started to develop the JF-17

As for the WS-13, the Chinese are very secretive about their domestic projects, and have given very little to no detail about the WS-13. So nobody knows how long it will take before its finished testing (or if it already has).

Why would you start a multi-million dollar project and not have the ENGINE already secured? It is like building a house but ROOF first!!! And we all know chinese + pakistanis would not dare make roof for a building that didn't even have walls back then!
Indians are just eating their hearts out over this... while JF-17 gets ready to fly and inducted into PAF, India's "own" LCA will fly its 5th prototype and god knows how many test flight in past 12 years later next week or something.

JF-17 will have an engine even if the Russians stop Pakistan from having it. The Chinese just reverse engineer them and stick a new label onto them. Dont know why people are getting so worked up about this. JF-17 is turning into quite a useful bit of techology. J-10 should have TVC, but I heard JF-17 too might. The Chinese must be able to put TVC onto their engines now it seems.

Well it is not about arjun tank here.....Arjun tank was something which army was unwilling to accept it. But this is not the case here. Air force has accepted it even though it is running behind schedule.

I dont think the PAF has anything to worry about, even if the IAF replaces all the worn out rusty soviet junk, their pilots are still very good at crashing planes.

It just goes to show how easily the common man (who doesn't know much about this issue) can be manipulated through enemy propoganda.
As for TVC on Jf-17, I doubt it. The air-frame would require alot modifications if a TVNozzle was put in place, which would cause a delay in completing the project. The Jf-17 doesn't really need TVC. If it is available on J-10, then why waste money on Jf-17? Its like souping up a civic and buying a ferrari at the same time.

KAMRA: Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood has said the issue involving the engine of JF-17 Thunder aircraft has been resolved amicably and there is no immediate threat vis-a-vis availability of the Russian RD-93 engines for the aircraft.
