i would have thought her incompetent corrupt childish self centered 2 runs as Pm would be enough for the ending of bhutto legacy, but hey...I may be wrong.
Knowing Pakistani public, after BB they would vote for her children...the legacy will continue :)

Her legacy continued thanks to military rule. Had she given five years to rule she might have ousted by people. But it does not mean demise of PPP. Perhaps some other person might have taken over as its leader. Asif Zardari, NS also became seasoned politicians due military. As I said many times, had military allowed democracy, the cleaning process would have created some decent politicians by now.

i hope that even if he is made the fall guy that he is made the finance minister because that is where he can make the most impact and has made the most impact, he should be given enough power to write the economic policies. I have the utmost respect for Shaukat Aziz, going back to the days I worked in citicorp in US and had infrequent interactions with him, but have never been convinced that he could be a good prime minister based on the nature of politics in Pakistan.

I met Shaukat Aziz at Citicorp on a couple of ocassions we had chance meetings. later as some of the work on human development that he was guiding, I had a couple of interactions with him. I met him again during his visit with Musharraf to Chicago, and then last May because he was in Morocco in the same hotel I was staying at. So in total, maybe 5-6 times so I cant say I know him, I have just met him.
He is a real gentleman in his dealings with people and is very down to earth based on what I have seen and his reputaton at citi. He did have a reputation of being a good golfer.

Shaukat Aziz is not only the most PM like PM Pakistan has had, but understands what needs to be done to turn around the economy.
People should give credit where credit is due. But wait, his initials are not BB or NS, so he can't be good :D

He proved to be better PM than BB and NS. If we go by BB and NS claims they were never allowed to work freely (by Army) and case is same with Shaukat Aziz but he provided better results (specially with economy). I'll vote for SA any day over NS and BB who are actually dictators in disguise and not political leaders anyway.

I do think shaukat aziz is better suited as finance minister, thats his strength, he should be freed from teh shackles of the big picture political topi drama and just allow him to focus on what he is best at.
as far as him being better than Bb and NS, thats not a very high bar to begin with.

yeah thats true, in the case of BB and NS, maybe teh country would have been better if there was a council of ministers and no PM.
anyways, shaukat can not be sacked and in itself that to clear things up..the architects have created a momentum for a reason, and musharraf would have to compromise on something bigger.
as soon as that is done, all this will go away.

Certainly the dubious privitization of all profit earning national assets is a great achievement. No heads rolled and no investigation of the steel mills fiasco, lip service on the sugar mills scandal and stock market crises speaks volume of this dubious guy. Had he made a blunder like this while working for citibank he would have been sacked right away but this is pakistan under Musharraf....

People who are smart in a technical field often have trouble connecting with people of lesser intellect
and of course our govt and opposition is full of those ppl i.e. the lesser intellect kinds. ppl that a smart technocrat like shaukar aziz could not connect with because it inlcudes ppl like Wasi Zafar in his corner, qazi and other assorted idiots in the other corner.
I dont agree with these assumptions - people who may be smart in papers but cant transform their knowledge to reality and real world are always losers.. It means they need an army full of highly intelectual people to outshine and convey their message? Successful people are those who can adjust their aspirations with real people.. understand their problems.. offer solutions that does not reflect in the indicators set by World Bank, Asian Banks but with betterment of people who matter..

Chaudhary Shujaat is still my fav. well, the only problem with the poor fellow is that he can’t speak well- but that should not disqaulify him from becoming a PM. But look at BB- she can talk well but is soooo corrupt and mind you all, she comes with a baggage- 10% I dont like how 10% smiles.
