Now GS as any community feels the need to thrive on rumors. I just found out a few days ago that half the community of GS thinks I was propositioned a few years ago to do the nasty with a few guppans. Yay me
The question is why does the confines of the Internet breed more the more nefarious aspects of people’s personalities. I have heard comments where people who are going through deep troubling emotional drama are “doing it just for the attention” according to others. I have heard comments like this person is a “whore and worse” because they are simply less emotionally stunted and more evolved than our crazy counterparts.
No they above two examples do not apply to me. I am a horny teenager. The question is why do people feel the need to spread rumors on a forum which is so detached from real life. You don’t know the person. You don’t know who does what or why they are here. So why the to besmirch some unimportant reputation?

dekhein, i gossip to digest my meals of the day. AND why wouldnt we gossip? we are not your friends or anyones friends in a virtual community.We are just people and people gossip.
it's not just women online that gossip spread rumors, oh men can be nasty gossipers and they have no mercy. i've personally seen it on one of those stupid social networking sites.
GS isn't so bad but with those social networking sites you have to be careful who you accept to see your personal details, and most of those sites have all your real life data like phone number, location, career details, email address all visible so it can be a big blow if a guy/girl wants to just mess around with people's nonvirtual lives.
it's like Sheyn said, some just have no life.

Frankly for that slut in my avatar I will be a damn sheep if she wants. Rumors regarding me will continue to exists and all they do is spread my infamy. I love it :D But I find it odd that women specifically on GS go tooth and nail after another guppan because of some posts.
Its like GS is more important than real life to them and their e-reputations actually matter.

As to main topic of rumours - it’s like the other thread Nikki started - why do people lie about themselves online? It’s because these people who consider the virtual world to be “real” truly have no life of their own. They define their identity, popularity and reputation (their own and others) based on what’s online. A lot of us say different things in jest - the one’s who don’t get the joke and more important than that, who desperately want in on the joke, create drama via rumours. These people lack maturity and the sense that God gave them - so no helping those people.
believe me GS is actually a nice environment, other places have nutcase people taking screenshots of PMs and scraps by members of those social networking places and those screenshots are spread all across. some of those people have been so f-ed in the head from being online most of their lives that they have no signs in them that they are still human and would go to any lengths to hurt somebody's nonvirtual life too with whom they have a personal grudge with online.

Sheyn I wasn't talking about CM, CM's cute and cool for the most part. i was talking about the thread topic and the "reputation" that was talked about.
on orkut i've seen a pakistani girl being totally humiliated and bullied by a bunch of men. her reputation did matter to her b/c all her personal details, photos were right there for all those people to see. she deleted her account but hopefully she's ok. it was because of fake or real gossip being spread online.
arrey why do we see articles of teenagers and young adults committing suicide b/c of online bullies and jerks
