Ruling on wearing gold/silver, engagement/wedding rings for Men

since we’re on the topic of rings…i wanted to ask,is it ok to get the husband a silver ring since he doesn’t wear gold, or is that cheap?

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

not at all! i think its the meaning behind the ring thats more important than what its made of. lets face it, guys dont really compare rings like we do either... so no one is going to care what its made of, so long as he's wearing it! :)
i gave my hubs a titanium ring... super strong, scratch proof, and very reasonably priced!

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

^platinum…white gold?
(((just curious…ever wonder how the sheikhs..and the kings/princes get away with wearing gold…? i think we are not allowed to show off our wealth…a wedding ring..is just a wedding ring…if he were wearing gold chains and a gold watch with a ring on every finger…id be telling him to take it off  ))))
didnt mean to go off topic…but i had always wanted to ask someone that..

anyway…you can ask him if he is ok with platinum…or silver is alright…

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

Actually Platinum is more expensive than white gold

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

yup! platinum is super pricey.
is platinum allowed on guys in Islam? i know gold isn't...

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

Duno, its a metal same as gold and silver.

Platinum however is more durable, more expensive and preferred as most people arent allergic to it and the big plus for the reason most people including women prefer platinum as their wedding/engagment bands/rings is the fact that its not easily scratched.

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

my fiance wants a silver ring as well. i actually saw some nice stainless steel ones too and was told by the salesman that they don't scratch easily as well. they looked exactly like the platinum ones i saw at the jeweler!

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

abt the silver n gold thing , i guess most guys dont like wearing gold mine didnt either i literally searched the whole of the Gold Souk market in dubai to find a decent white gold ring bt found none in the end i found a gold ring that i liked n had the shop to make it in white gold so they took the same ring and js colored it white gold .. it looked amazin also it is the only white gold that is 24 or 22 carat usually white gold is only 18 .. that is wt he told us ..

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

that makes sense cos it was made of 22/24 kt gold and they just colored it :)

most guys i know get their rings, if in yellow gold, in 18 kt so its not that super bright yellow color.

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

i did some searching, and found at that for Muslim men, only silver rings are allowed...(sunnipath.com)

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

Yikes! So no white gold or gold rings..for men =( I had picked-out a really nice one for him sniff

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

I totally agree with you .. men really don't even care about their wedding ring. I got my husband a half carat diamond wedding band from Jcpenny. It was a good deal..

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

men cannot wear gold and platinum.. what did you guys get your fiance/hubby? silver?

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

titanium!

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

titanium is sooo heavy though! how did you manage to get your husband to wear it??

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

no way! are you kidding me? titanium was lighter than white gold... thats the main reason he didnt want white gold, cos it felt heavy on his hands. the titanium ring was lighter and scratch-proof, so he wasn't afraid of it getting ruined while playing soccer. we went ring shopping together because i wanted him to get something he loved as much as i loved my ring.
also, yay for your ring! im so happy you got it!

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

titanium is allowed to be worn by men? thats good news to me, i was gonna go crazy looking for a nice silver ring.

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

I don't think titanium is allowed for men to wear. Nor is tungsten. My husband said not to get those, so I just ended up giving him a silver ring (which was very hard to find btw).

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

as far as i know, islam only forbids gold to men, right?

Re: Engagement/ Wedding rings and bands

Gold, white gold, platinum are forbidden. I've searched online and my husband asked asked some of his friends and I think a teacher or someone he knows at the masjid he goes to and they all said that tungsten and titanium shouldn't be worn either. My husband told me not to get those so I didn't but man was it difficult to find something else. I left my wedding ring and band up to him, =), lol, although he didn't give me much of a choice but I'm satisfied with the outcome.
