Roti Making

khan bhai, lagta hay aap tandoor may rehtay hain

I love women who can make rotis. Those naazuk naazuk kalaaiyaaN with chhankati hooee chooriyaaN, ultatay palatatay hooay marmareiN haath with gandmi aata. Khhanay ka shauq kiss kambakht ko hai.

When you are clapping the roti, do it in the sink. All the atta will fall in the sink and then you can use a paper towel to pick it up and throw it out. On the counter, always spread old newspapers, and simply throw them out after your done. Saves a lot of cleaning up.

Qrius, you are not alone. smile

I can make difficult dishes, but I cannot make a round roti. sighz hehe. I dont worry about it though, its to eat, and as long as its close to round, if only on one of its four corners, thats good enuff for me. hehe.

i can also make the perfect round chapatees , in fact i m the best roti maker in my family...:)
i agree with hanie , aata bohat acha gundha hona chahiye and if u r using bailna then try to roll the roti from the corners only, beech say karo gai to woh pakatay hoa beech say patli honay ki waja say akar jai gi, and yep pratice is the only key...........and the most important thing is the encourgment of ur family members.
baqi sab k mashwaray bohat achay hain and mine r the same so i didn't feel to write it down again..:)

and funguy one more solution to ur problem is try not to use so much of raw flour on ur roti, us say roti pakatay hoa bhi akarti hai...and yes do all that clapping on ur sink aur itni zayada bhi zordar tareeqay say na karain ...:)

funguy, aap ko kis nay kaha hay kay itna kas kas kay roti ko barhain kay atta giray. I'll tell you what i do..once i roll the roti..i stand bilkul chipak kay with counter..taakay sara atta counter par giray. After that, i just clean the counter..i have a tasla..where i collect all the leftover atta..then i throw the atta away. Then i do a major cleanup..coz i am a cleaning freak as well :-)

FF, i used to hate making rotis..but one should know incase there's no one around to make them. I felt selfish at times when my mom made them for us eventhough she was tired or what not. Now atleast i can be of help to her :-)

mehroo and Munni, don't worry..someday we all will :-) I am getting there :-)

khanzada, kiun jalatay ho bhai.

Roman Bhai, aap urdu novel likhain aik..bohat mashhor hoga :-)

afshanzaidi, shukria :-)

Oh thanks for the pointers Sehar, Afshan and Qrius.

I will try not to imitate the pizza maker chef and do it slowly. I used to do weird things. Once the chapati was all flattened after clapping, I would toss it up in the air and catch it on my fingers :D. No more of that.

And I’ll try to stand chippak kay with the counter. Waisay counter hay koi larki thori k mai sharmaaooN.

dont know abt making.....but i just love having round and thin rotis. Mom makes the best rotis...I dont remember enjoying anyone elses hand made rotis.

Qrius after sooooo much practise…now my roti is gol and really tasty ..infact my Papa like meri hath kee buny hoi roti..which make me sooo happy :hula:

anyway dont worry..as evryone said practise karo..hmm

practise makes a roti maker perfect :hehe:

and then u can also make a roti like ur Ammi…

hmmmmmmmmm…

i learned it in few days…:)…
actually my first time was a DISASTER……it went sooooooooooo bad na…my roti were all different shapes and sizes…and i didnt wanted to give that to my dad…my mum was on my back keh aise kuro ye kuro wo kuro etc…but still mujh se suhi ni ho raha tha…:nono:…i had flour on my hands and aata…and i sratched my nose and i had aata there…it was a mess…:frowning:

but with experience…like making them everyday for 3-4 days i got the hand of it…like when to turn them round and put them on the pan…:k:
