Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

Salam ,

Does anyone have recipe on how to make shikanjbeen with rooh afza. I had it at few ppl’s home but I am not in touch with them to ask for the recipe.

Also does anyone have exact recipe to make limo pani. We don’t get the sachets here so would like to make it at home.

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

U know a few days ago I tried this mix, Crystal Light mojito flavor... 5 calories per sachet (no alcohol)..ohmg it tastes so good...and it does taste like limo pani to me......and if its not the exact thing, it's close enough.

Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

Oh ok sorry

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

you're not trolling? :(

Sikanjbeen and limo pani is the same thing. Sikanjbeen with rooh afza is just rooh afza with a lemon sqeezed in it!

No I’m not trolling.
Also I tried making rooh afza and squeezing lime juice in it, does not taste like shikanjbeen.

Yes I know both if them are same thing :snooty: if I could get my hands on limo panic satchets I would not be asking for the recipe .

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

^ This. Or any other powdered lime drink mix would taste the same,no?

^ nit necessary they all would taste the same

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

LOL cuz sikanjbeen doesnt have rooh afza in it

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

im nto sure what limo paani tht ur referring to tastes like...but to me it had a very "familiar" taste...as if it was something I had in pak (cz I never drank that kind of stuff in US). its worth a shot but..w/e

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

NO, they are NOT! **shikanjabeen is a thick paste** of sugar and lemon juice that people in olden days used to lick with fingers. since it was so 'khaTtaa' [sour], you would see skin of the forehead shrivel and, hence, the name 'shikanjabeen'! [shikan = shirivel; jabeen = forhead] given to it...sharbat shikanjabeen is it's modern version.

Indian Beverage Company, Kissan, used to make ShikanJabeen and market it in bottles...we used to dilute it to make sharbat.

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

Acc to my knowledge and from what I have had in Paksitan, shikanjabeen is just a desi lemonade. That is lemons and sugars in water and if you add Rooh afza to it,it becomes rooh afza wali shikanjbeen.

If you are talking about the powdered limo pani thing (something like Tang) they had back home,oh it was yummy.I have not tried anything in the US that is close to it,but try making it with green limes, sugar and a tiny pinch of kala namak (not sure what you call it in English..!).It will not be the same but tastes good..!I always like a very very tiny bit of kala namak in home made limeade or lemonade.

Chips you got it right that is what I.am.talking about. Do you mind sharing ratio of sugar, lime juice.

Can't taste it while fasting so would like a set ratio so as to not go wrong.

Oooh my goodness!
I just tried these a few days ago my self. I dono what the heck limo pani is… but the Mojito stuff… om nom nom! :yumm: SOOO good!

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

It is not a usual for iftaars and also I just eye ball the ingredients depending on how much I am making.Maybe if I am making it out of juice of 2 lemons,I will add 2-3 packets of Splenda and 3 glasses of water and ice and some salt.
Maybe try making some and adjust the lemon juice and sugar acc to your liking, before Ramadan and that way you will know how you like it even if you cannot taste it.

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

OMG IT IS ISNT IT!!!

Re: Rooh Afza and shikanjbeen

I tried the Crystal light mojito thing. It is great...!
It has a taste of mint in the background which the limopani thing does not,but it is some good tasting stuff..!
