Re: Role of Opposition
If you remember during Zia’s non party government headed by Mohammad Khan Jonejo, with almost 90% mendate there was opposition in that parliament too. Only one person opposing Zia’s action had created hell for the Zia’s government. Ziaul Haq sent his troops to fight in Khana Kaaba to clear extremists who occupied Kaaba and refused to come out. Pakistan army used guns in the sacred sanctity and killed a number of extremists. This was debated in the then parliament that how the guns were used by army in sacred sanctity where fighting wars were banned during Prophet Mohammad’s time. No one in the government had guts to respond it.
Keeping in view the numbers, PML(N) could have played a very active role in the parliament particularly on key issues which affect the average people of Pakistan such as target killings, Railway problem, hiding of OBL and killing in the midst of strong army garrison, suicide killings, TTP, water and electricity problem, (I hate when SS behaved like mazdoor union agitating against PPP, knowing that he was equally responsible for the shortage) friendly relations with India, future relations with America, role of army in politics, Baluchistan problem etc. They have dick contribution on national issues, wasted their time and energy on personal feud with Zardari and co. This will definitely benefit IK in the coming elections. PML(N) may lose more seats Punjab.
The sanctity of Khana Kaaba would have been violated I agree, but the people who had occupied it had the same mentality of our taleban/alqaeda brothers and they had taken around 100000 people as hostage. There was no other way to have those people/Kaaba freed.
