Colors play a very crucial role in the world in which we live. They can change mood, alter actions, and cause reactions. They can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite.
When used in the right ways, color can save on energy consumption. When used in the wrong ways, they can start a war.
They send a powerful message which is becoming a global language
Red light means stop
But a Red national flag represents an ideology that promotes stateless society
Red dress symbolizes sensuality
And Red comment from a pen on your answer sheet in school means, something is not right.
Let’s start a thread where we can talk about the role color plays in our lives.
I gave some examples of red.
Other can be Purple that represents calm mood and depression at the same time.
Or Black, that represents mystery and sorrow, based on the way it’s presented
To me, black doesn't necessarily represent sorrow. Sometimes it portrays dignity and class. White signifies purity, and red calls for celebration!!!!
Then, it all depends on circumstances.
There is a condition called seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in medical terms. Some people are happy or depressed by the season they are experiencing. The white snow may cause them to feel empty and void whereas in someone without SAD, the white snow may lead to boots and gloves ... and a snowman.
Similarly, a dark and black night make make someone claustrophobic, while some are inspired by its intensity and romance.
Hin33 talked about Yellow and Massive said Green as the fav. colors, the reason being that Y and G sits right in the middle if rainbow spectrum, thus most visible ones
Their visibility might make them pleasant to one's eyes, and pleasing effects are always calming in nature.

Very impressive writing Niksik. Could you please elaborate more on SAD, that sounds like a thread topic by itself. Quite interesting

i think the perception and meaning that you get by looking at a color is also very sociology/society/cultural driven. red in the eastern culture means happiness, while in other cultures it doesn't hold much significance. black as far as i've seen in western society is the color of evil, and everything that is bad. in our culture atleast, it's just another color, but not necessarily evil. white has traditionally been associated for widows in the eastern culture, whereas white in western cultures is a nice color, a color of a virgin, bride.
at the same time, pink used to be uber-girly. a color for the girls only. now pink is a color that is generally accepted to be wearable by men and women.
