i think the perception and meaning that you get by looking at a color is also very sociology/society/cultural driven. red in the eastern culture means happiness, while in other cultures it doesn't hold much significance. black as far as i've seen in western society is the color of evil, and everything that is bad. in our culture atleast, it's just another color, but not necessarily evil. white has traditionally been associated for widows in the eastern culture, whereas white in western cultures is a nice color, a color of a virgin, bride.
at the same time, pink used to be uber-girly. a color for the girls only. now pink is a color that is generally accepted to be wearable by men and women.
Excellent post.
However, I don't think most westerner's equate white wedding dresses with virgin brides anymore.
Too many 9 month pregnant girls in short white sheaths lol

In some part of east, Black is the color of mourning rather than white
My favorite ones are black, deep blue, green and white.
White is sophisticated and in my view its pakeeza color, green is peaceful and soothing, black I love everything black I just love it.I love the color of blue water its deep and its stunning.
My fav is Black. You have said what i would have said about Black :k: It is amazing how black is misunderstood. In our family, a newly wed is not supposed to wear pure Black choorian/clothes for a year or so because Black is said to be the color of sorrow and manhoos . I’m not a fan of white color because to me, White means having no colors at all; plain, having no depth and I feel as White defines sorrow (cuz white is worn when someone dies).

In reality, as I said earlier .. its black that represents absence of colors
white means all the colors are there, just like when you spin rainbow striped wheel very faast, all colors merge into each other and all you see is white
During the time i drove a cab, a person once asked me where i learnt to drive (implying i'm a rough driver). To that i said to him "Where i come from Red means go. Green means go. And Yellow means.. oh what the **, GO!"
