Road rage anyone ?

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Lol, I haven’t seen this side of you thus far. I kind of like it. As I feel your pain. Hahaha

Things that piss me off..

1- why does it take people ages to get to the speed limit after they get the green light. I mean don't burn rubber and screech away but still

2- that one ##¥£%$ who you are stuck behind but as soon as you try to pass him, he is speedy Gonzalez Ki aulad
And speeds up

3- turn the car already, it's a green arrow, just get on with it. It will not skid out or crack into pieces...

4- ladies hogging the fast lane and doing makeup while driving, going all over the road.

5- the character who has to put down a muffin or something, release the parking brake, put car in gear and then fina-&@&%-Ly move at a green light. I mean seriously.
Debate the meaning of life or engage in introspection about why green means go elsewhere

6- ppl who turn into traffic but right into the fast lane while going 20mph. Look lazy ass, you could have turned the steering a little more and gone in the slow lane where you are supposed to turn.

7- semitruckers getting in fast lane even if they don't have to take a left turn for 3 miles.

8- ladies doing makeup but behind my car. Stopping dangerously close or having to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid hitting me since they had their attention diverted. Someday ibam going to rent a huge car, get rental company insurance. And just as they are using the eye pencil, slam on my brakes.

There are many others but this list should suffice for now.

Cars that typically are driven by bad drivers..

Corollas, and many camrys
Not the same with civic and accord as much though

Saturn...all except skyy

Any vehicle in turquoise

Large SUVs with little women drivers

Small cars with huge guys stuffed into them

Pickup trucks from hick states around us, fazed and dazed driving in big city

Etc

Re: Road rage anyone ?

I don't get road rage as i'm not a driver but I do get bus-rage as I ride the bus on a daily basis and see so many weird/annoying people that it just makes me angry and aggravated ALL HTE TIME.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

One thing I DO hate about drivers...I hate getting hit by them :(

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Tell me about it! Have you ever noticed that those who are going 10 below the speed limit in a 50 zone seem to keep going at the same speed through a playground zone? So the reason they are going slow is not that they are being safe but that they are distracted or lack proper driving education.

Sorry to hear that. One of my uncles had a nasty accident in Pakistan. There were five guys in the car. Four of them died while my uncle was in a coma for sometime and then for about 6 months he was abnormal. Couldn’t recognize ppl and stuff. One day i got in a car with him here in Canada and he wouldn’t go above 80 on a freeway where the speed limit was 100. We kept telling him to move it but he wouldn’t budge.

p.s. no one has mentioned desi aunties and chinese ppl? :konfused:

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Fuel efficiency is maximum at ~ 45-55 mph. I try never to come to a full stop - especialy when I know the light patterns. Most people just gun their engine - not paying attention to the light maybe half a mile ahead. if that light has turned yellow on the way to red, I take the foot off the accelerator (after ensuring noone is too close behind). But these morons just keep accelerating - and want me to speed up just so I can screech to a halt at the light. Since I do not oblige, they do get puzzled and sometimes pissed off. Most times, by the time I arrive at the light, it has turned green and I get to go to the lane least crowded and pass these high flyers who accelerated past me.

And yes, if I do have to stop, I take my time getting to full speed. Not gonna pollute more than I have to.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

If I'm pissed off enough, I honk and do the outstretched arm, flat palm gesture. Putting people at physical risk to save 3 whole seconds in congested traffic deserves a royal appearance of the middle finger. And for every sonuvagun who starts accelerating the second I signal a lane change, I yell, "Yeah buddy, you're really getting ahead of me in life. Way to go, champ!"

The tragedy is most people are in a hurry to get nowhere. I was impatient with delays and slow traffic when I was younger, but now every time I'm stuck in a bumper-to-bumper and I feel like whining, I imagine being a Palestinian waiting on foot at a checkpoint for 8 hours. That puts road rage in perspective and makes me feel like an ungrateful a-hole.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

never indulge in road rage in pak. NEVER. people are crazy here.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

I agree, in Pakistan it's different. Acts of road rage here can get out of hand and can land you in a lot of trouble.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Those who are not community minded drivers
Do not let you merge into traffic
Big vehicles who turn in front of you causing you to brake - yes - Ia m one of those Honda Civic drivers
Those who change lanes without a signal - causing you to brake (give a signal and I will let you in)
Vehicles at a yield sign who merge into free flowing traffic without yielding
People who speed through school zones and housing areas (but at the same time come to a full stop at stop signs when no one is around - obey letter of the law, but break the spirit every which way)
Those who stay behind their line for a left turn, wait for all cars in opposite directin to go by, wait another second for good measure, and then complete their turn. Now the light turns red, and the people behind are funimg. get in the middle of the intersection and make that turn already - it is not just about you.
Those who do not check their blind spots
Those who drive in the adjacent lane, forever in your blind spot.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

I don't drive but my hubby does and deffo gets road rage lol. Cos i'm not a driver, i guess i dont often really understand why he's so angry and think he overreacts a lot...his road rage consists of a bit of swearing and death stare at whoevers made him mad.

*Will have to remember this. So easy to lose perspective.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

I can think of a few incidents; Not really proud of it though.
I was awful a few years ago but I've really done away with a lot of the angst.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

I sometimes honk back at people who honk impatiently at me. I prolly shouldn't cuz I've heard cases of psychos who will become violent if they feel provoked. But oh well :)

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Eh…that can be scary. I needs to be more careful. :bummer:

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Those who drive too fast in parking lots
Cars (especially SUVs and pick-ups) that do not give right of way to bicyclists and pedestrians, who drive too close to bicycles at high speed, when they can move to adjacent lane or not go at 80 mph past the poor cyclists
Able bodied persons who use drive through for fast food, starbucks, banking etc - idling their car for sometimes 15 minutes
99.9% of all drivers, who do not turn off their engine once light turns red, and there is at least a 1-min wait period for the next green. (studies show cut off is 10-30sec)
Those who drive vehicles far bigger than they need
Thise who drive sports cars and other gas guzzlers
Thise who watch and support NASCAR and other motor sports

Re: Road rage anyone ?

It worked on my friends the other day. We were stuck on a 5 lane freeway which was jammed for as far as you could see. Tempers started to flare and I jokingly suggested that as long as we weren't being shot at, or held hostage by an IDF blockade on our own land, it doesn't make sense to complain without end. Even having a car is a blessing, which you only appreciate when you're compelled to ride public transport. When traffic eased up and we started moving, we passed a 2 vehicle crash - survivors seemed unlikely by the look of the wreck. I've found that the more I keep death and the fragility of life in mind, the easier it becomes to practice patience, not just on the road. Easier said than done, though.

Re: Road rage anyone ?

Ditto. Anyone who drives a hummer is a d-bag.
