In all the many summers I have visited Pakistan, I have never, Alhumdolillah, been assaulted in the bazaars, streets, etc. I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen at all; I am simply sharing my personal experience. As for the post which you’ve quoted, I am not comparing the efficacy of law enforcement between Pakistan and the West; nor was my intent to downplay the importance of law enforcement. What I meant is that the person who is hell-bent on committing a crime won’t be deterred by religion, or security measures, or even consequences of breaking a law. Such people are everywhere and it’s wrong to associate it with Islam as Eliminator has done in his post; do you not see anything wrong with that line of thought? It’s bad enough that people who engage in such vile acts portray a bad image of Islam…which the West (media, etc) will take advantage of…it’s worse when Muslims themselves attach such acts to Islam thus perpetuating negative stereotypes.

When most of the population is like this than it is not stereo type, When I went there for a week I did not see one person that was honest in their dealings, started with custom, immigration, porters, taxi, Dood wala, butcher, mixing bricks with chilli, even selling fake life saving drugs all the time saying namaz and tasbeeh, where I come from I respect what you do not what you say, I see amazing people on a daily basis, my nephews canoe club is run by volunteers, they come and scrub and clean and fix and repair stuff for free, they volunteer to drive kids thousands of miles without a penny in compensation, yes they show skin, have a drink, dance and yet do good for society..If someone shows me a hijab and has done nothing to better society, they can keep their Hijab. The volunteer President of the club did two 18hr shifts for the team at the Casino…with no compensation, I audited the club and not a penny missing. I never lock my door or my car.
