Re: rishtas for desi girls born and raised abroad
In all the many summers I have visited Pakistan, I have never, Alhumdolillah, been assaulted in the bazaars, streets, etc. I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen at all; I am simply sharing my personal experience. As for the post which you’ve quoted, I am not comparing the efficacy of law enforcement between Pakistan and the West; nor was my intent to downplay the importance of law enforcement. What I meant is that the person who is hell-bent on committing a crime won’t be deterred by religion, or security measures, or even consequences of breaking a law. Such people are everywhere and it’s wrong to associate it with Islam as Eliminator has done in his post; do you not see anything wrong with that line of thought? It’s bad enough that people who engage in such vile acts portray a bad image of Muslims…which the West (media, etc) will take advantage of…it’s worse when Muslims themselves attach such acts to Islam thus perpetuating negative stereotypes.
