Yes giggly, its the exact same guy. After one year, we both put our hopes on God that he knows what is better for both of us and here we are, getting married in 3 weeks.

yes dear, after two whole years! Oh man, it was a huge struggle. but worth it. I really dont want to go without my parents. When we first started our relationship, we both agreed we wont get married to each other if one of our parents' are not happy but after all this drama he was just like aa jao, jab ami abu kah rahay hain to, lol!. Now i remind him of his silly decision, he just laughs and we both are grateful to God neither one of us have taken any steps towards suicide or shadi without my parent's consent. Khuda sabar ka phal zaroor deta hai. Now everybody is happy happy.

My super duper detective instincts tell me that it was some relatives who had their own interests in mind...e.g. a green card, and basically influenced your dad, so it got called off...they wanted to give you some time to be over it and then go for this other option, but one of two, or both things happened, one your folks felt they were wrong, and the people who influenced your dad started acting like idiots, either pushing for it or in some way showed their true colours.
here is my theory and dang it, I am sticking to it.
