I think in Pakistan the reasons are what traditionally was cosidered a normal marriage.

1. Girls stand up for themselves.
2. they do not tolerate abuse anymore.
3. they have become financially more independent so they think why to waste our lives like this.
4. Men are still chuvanists. The stigma of divorce is less as compared to old times.
   So, usually women think its better to take their own ways.
   I feel sorry for people who say women do not tolerate more or compromise more.
   Marriage is a sacred institution for two people. Both parties need to work a hundred percent for it to work out.
   How can you still have that 100 year old thinking and still justify it.

Lady, you make it sound like women were served a course of ass kicking with every single meal. More than half the marriages are going straight down the ****ter. Are half of the ladies being abused by men? Are half of them in a situation where they have to stand up for themselves? Take your head out of where the sun don’t shine, a woman can walk out of a marriage with half of a man’s belongings and a nice monthly pay cheque. As long as a lady isn’t clinically insane she is sure to get child custody. Meanwhile the oppressors, the chauvinists, the abusers, they kill themselves way more often after a divorce than the oppressed.
