Three candidates to sue MQM for rigging

KARACHI - PPP candidate for NA-250 Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Najmi Alam for PS-112 and independent candidate for PS-111 Irfanullah Marwat on Wednesday filed a constitutional petition with Sindh High Court against rigging in elections in their constituencies.
Sindh High Court approved the petition for hearing and formatted a two-member bench comprising on Justice Azizullah Memon and Justice Irshad Noor and issued notices to provincial and federal Election Commissions and Returning Officer in NA-250.
Petitioners’ lawyer Sheikh Hamid Mir filed a constitutional petition against rigging in the Monday’s election on NA-250, PS-111 and PS-112. He said that on the day of election, MQM workers captured the polling station on gunpoint and committed massive rigging. He submitted that polling stations in the said constituencies including Banni College, Fazul Iman School, Modern School, Govt Women College, SM Law College, PJ School, Haider Public School, Garden School, Habib Public School, Ismaeel Allahwala School and others were seized by the MQM workers who expelled PPP’s polling agents and also threatened its supporters.
The lawyer further submitted that MQM workers kidnapped PPP supporters and polling agents of an independent candidate and committed massive rigging.
He alleged that on the day of election returning officer Sultan Ahmed Awan was informed about the rigging but he didn’t pay attention to the complaints. He submitted that his clients have not only video clips of the rigging but also some other evidence in this regard. He appealed the SHC to cancel the results and direct by-elections on the said constituencies.
The SHC bench issued notices to all respondents including Provincial and Federal Election Commission and Sultan Ahmed Awan Returning Officer of NA-250 to appear before the court on 26 February and adjourned the hearing till that date.

A lady impersonating an MQM supporter walks into a polling station with a hidden camera. In this video footage an MQM polling agent is seen dishing out multiple ballot papers to her. The woman is thumb printing every ballot paper.

Palijo urges PPP not to join hands with MQM

HYDERABAD: Chairman Awami Tehreek (AT) Rasool Bux Palijo on Wednesday asked the leadership of the Pakistan Peopleís Party (PPP) not to join hands with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for the formation of government.
Talking to newsmen at the hunger strike camp outside the Hyderabad Press Club against the success of the MQM allegedly due to ìriggingî, the nationalist leader also called upon the PPP to raise its voice on issues of Sindh and no ìdramaî in this respect would be accepted.
He expressed the apprehension that the feudal class in the winning party would not raise its voice on the issues of water and other resources of Sindh but said the people of the province would not tolerate injustice this time.
Palijo claimed that decision of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) had proven correct.
He criticised the political partiesí criminal silence over ìriggingî in the polls by the MQM in Karachi and Hyderabad.
He was of the view that the next government should solve the problems of Sindh.

HYDERABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and candidates of various constituencies on Wednesday alleged rigging in constituencies of NA-219, NA-220, PS-45, PS-46, PS-48 and PS-49 and called for re-election under the supervision of Army.
Addressing a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club, NA-220 candidate Sahibzada Shabbir Ansari along with party candidates accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of ìriggingî during polling on Feb 18. He said the results of these constituencies should be nullified and called for recounting and re-election on these seats of the Hyderabad district.
He also demanded that to check the charges of rigging, the ballot papers should be verified from Nadra.
Shabbir accused the presiding officers of resorting to ìriggingî and ìbogus votingî. He said many polling agents belonging to his party were barred from sitting at polling stations and voters and supporters were also harassed. He demanded fair elections under the Army supervision.

Old games are still on. Then people wonder why Army has to take over. It always starts like this. Politicians fight each other and call in the army to be the arbiter.
Why can't these people be man enough and accept the defeat? I am sure there was rigging. Moti anuntie may be thumbing the votes or her nose.
In the interest of elections, and long term political rule, some haira phariee must be accepted. Otherwise we are looking at another 10 years of army rule.

I agree, if army conducts the poll and they still lose it then they will blame "ISI/military collusion". If they want they can chellenge the ballot papers (verification by NADRA) and take it to court (instead of going to army).

And you know what? The party that got most vote from the polling station on this video is PPP (what I remember from discussion on GEO, where PPP candidate from this seat was also present that, PPP got around 800 and MQM around 140 or so from this polling station). So, it shows that if rigging happened, than who really was rigging, as if MQM was rigging, they would have got around 800 votes and PPP around 140
If one see the video it also shows that the person who was making video and people at the polling station, both were working in collaboration. So since video came from PPP sources and blame is put on MQM, and since it is obvious that video is made with cooperation of polling agents, that also proves who was rigging. Collaboration is obvious, as these polling agents would not be fiddling with polls while someone standing there and making video of it. From the way, polling agents were confident of the person making video, shows that both polling agents and person making video belongs to same party, that is PPP.
