Revision

Re: Revision

What about timetables?

Re: Revision

as long as there is no exam i try to follow my own interest. If topic is interesting than i'll finish it off ... its more of a personal satisfaction :)

Re: Revision

scream them out.. if my dad in the other room couldn't hear me... lol i wasn't studying! haha

Re: Revision

I mean how much time do you set aside to do revision on a daily or weekly basis and how do you motivate yourself to stick with the plan.

Re: Revision

in col right now so no set time, just study for the important subject like math and for others just revise the night before.

Re: Revision

I have figured out why the units and materials I revise do not mould into my brain…MUSIC! :|:|:|

So I have realised that I can only study/revise when there is complete silence and to do that I go to my own little place…just sit there for ageeeess and revise :phati:

All in all, I need complete silence :rotato:

Re: Revision

I need music to help me revise.

Re: Revision

I need complete silence...because I like talking to myself...and explaning stuff to myself...hate making notes - I just go through past papers if they are available. If not, just read through the textbook...and hope that my brain absorbs it. Has worked uptil now :p

Re: Revision

^ YESSSSS! So true about talking to yourelf and explaining it!..glad I’m not the only one then :rotato:

Re: Revision

Inzi and sweefy:

that is also done when doing rattaaa :D

Re: Revision

:cb: Yeahh…that really tends to work.. and of course, the most important thing, I always need a mug of milk with me whilst I’m revising..

Re: Revision

Whats that :bummer:

Re: Revision

ratta is ratta.... there is no alternative...

Re: Revision

Without music I cannot concentrate...music helps me concentrate....is that weird or normal?

Re: Revision

rest i shove into my brain until the exam and thn …dont ask :chai:

Re: Revision

I used to make notes, even if it was day or two before the actual exam, used to pass my time writing notes, trying to convince myself im revisiing  yeh so make notes, n memorise them, especially those topics which are beyond my understanding, just used to learn them off by heart and rewrite them in the exam :cb: altho’ my memorisation skills are not too gud either :bummer: and yeh wen i used to revise i preffered it being quiet around me, coz i get distracted easily my concentration span is just :nook: especially wen it comes to revising…I prefferred doing my revision or essayz at night..thts wen my brain used to work best  and as for timetables, teachers used to tell us to use them, n i did make them few times, but i never used to follow them :bummer: so they were pointless! for some reason my revision used to be left to the last minute, either coz there was toooo much n i didnt kno where to start or i had other thingz to worry abt too such as coursework or essayz…

To conclude i hated examzzzzzzzz, really really dreaded them, never want to ever sit another such exam ever again in my life :crying:

I prefer essay writing… :@:

Re: Revision

My revision tips are as follows:

a) Ensure all notes and points of information are handy, allocate a special study area where no one can disturb you.

b) Create a timetable that plans out your revision scheme as per your exams. Be optimal in the time allocations.

c) Get your course notes and make them into revision notes. To do this you need to employ a few techniques.

  • Condense your writing
  • Use symbols and diagrams to remember concepts

d) Revise

  • Use you mind like a hard drive and put a folder structure in it to memorise key values of topics and 'save' them in those folders.

e) Undertake pass paper exams

f) Create your own questions:

  • For calculative questions tweek the numbers
  • For discursive questions think about the possible ways and links certain concepts have with other topics that you have learned, think of all of the ways that a topic can be introduced.

g) Only revise in chunks of 45 minute durations to maximise attention

h) Tell your friends you parents and anyone else about your timetable and pin it to a visible area. So they can help motivate you too.

i) Make jingles and songs for lists of things to remember

j) Get others to ask you verbal questions from a revision book

k) Read Duroods

l) Get a dictaphone and read out your notes to yourself then play it back to yourself and listen to see if it makes sense. If it does not make sense that chances are you will not remember the notes, or make tangible reference to the knowledge area.

m) Ensure at least 8 hours of no revision time before all exams.

n) Take water with you in an exam, but don't drink too much or you will need to go.
