Re: One shouldered Bridal

I really can't stand one shouldered bridal....its just not my thing!

Sleeveless Bridals - Any takers?

what do you guys think of sleeveless bridals?

A bad idea. First of all, it takes away from the formality of the wedding outfit. Second, your arms should be really well toned if you are going to do that. I have nothing against sleeveless outfits in general (I wear them myself), but there's a time and place for everything. Ironically, when my sister was getting married, Maria B told her that she hates when brides go sleeveless because it looks bad. She preferred that they at least have cap sleeves at the very least.

Hmm interesting. I honestly felt that cap sleeves make my arms look fatter and sleeveless looks better. If you notice, the majority of wedding bridal shoots in the magazines are sleeveless. I just ordered my outfit in sleeveless from sana safinaz and wondering if I should have gotten sleeves.

Probably because its cheaper to make a sample thats sleeveless (less fabric, less kaam). Plus unless you have arms like those models, a sleeveless bridal is just going to look bad. At least, short sleeves suit almost everybody.

I don't know, I agree with you and thebear bc I think sleeveless AND short sleeves are for people with slim arms. It depends on the type of short sleeve, but cap sleeves for example are really fitted and...I dont know how else to put this, but your arm fat just kind of spills out of it. The worst is when people wear baju bands on top of that. In my opinion, 3/4 or long sleeves suit everyone.

Fitting issues aside though, i think sleeveless is a bad idea because people pay more attention to the show of skin by the bride than they do to the outfit and look.

My friend wore a BEAUTIFUL Bunto outfit for her wedding -- sleeveless fishtail in tea pink. It really looked elegant. It would've looked nice with sleeves too, but it did not look inappropriate for a bride in sleeveless. It was lovely!

^ that sounds amazing!

i had a sleeveless gharara for my mehendi and i wish i'd gotten a sleeveless wedding dress too because in hindsight, i can say, cap sleeves do not suit those of us with generous arms. i worked out and all that but they still weren't model-perfect, but despite that, my arms looked much better in sleeveless than cap sleeves.
then again, my entire wedding shirt was a mess, so maybe that contributed to things too. d'oh.

I thought your wedding dress looked great on you, but I agree - for some reason sleeveless tops are easier to pull off than cap sleeves. I'm planning on going sleeveless at my wedding & valima.

I have ordered my bridal dress with 3/4 sleeves, in the hope it will look elegant. Wish i had well-tone arms, then i wouldn't had to worry about all that. . .

There is this one Dubai "high society" bride I have seen (meaning I saw her photos online). She moved to Canada and the wedding was in Toronto. She wore a very daring outfit ... well daring in the sense that it was more revealing ... but man, she pulled it off. She looked great in the shadi pics.

These are gorgeoussss…with sheer fitted sleeves…i can see the “one shoulder” look looking nice. but just for a formal, not yet for a bridal…hmm

Gina, i personally dont like the idea of revealing shoulders, it doesnt look good on real brides just on models in photos..but then thats just me .. i dont even like half sleeves lol It also depends on how 'modern' or openminded the society you live in is, at our side, even if the bride is wearing half sleeves she will get picked on by aunties etc. so yea, go for what you think suits you best. as you already said that you have worn open shoulders once, it probably looks good :)
and you're so lucky to have such a sweet MI :D

That looks like a Fusion wedding, KP.

There are so many tasteful ways to do a “fusion” wedding…this definitely wasn’t it.

and what the heck is the point of a fusion wedding when neither bride or groom is white??
