Re: Restless leg syndrome
:D u shouldnt be complaining if u just got it.. since ure nearly done being pregnant... i get it in the 2nd tri normally.. but not everyday... and its mostly at night when im lying down... god i feel like scratching, walking, hopping, beating my leg... ofcourse nothing will really help.. hehe.. i just get up and shake it about... stretch it a bit... but honestly... nothing really helps.. just use teh mind over body rule and try to sleep it off.
Re: Restless leg syndrome

Re: Restless leg syndrome

I was saying yesterday I think I must be really bruised inside (and blue), its allways the same spot.
But never say never, it can start during the final trimester as they get big and need space.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
something that I am probably not looking forward to!!
I had severe leg cramps even in the first tri I was told that uterus is pushing hence the cramps but then it went away.. I wonder how it will be later!!!
Re: Restless leg syndrome
I had this too. but it didn't last for very long. For abt few weeks. And like Khawa, it happened during the night. Its like you can't move your legs, it hurts. Just stretch your leg.. it'll take few seconds to go away. When I started getting it, I googled it. There is no known reason for why this happen.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
OMG I had this throughout my whole pregnancy. The only thing that helped was quickly getting out of bed and stepping on the cold hardwood floor. It was a pain doing that during my last month but that was the only thing that worked. No massages helped. Hope that helps
Re: Restless leg syndrome
apparently its related to iron deficiency so i've upped my iron intake. lets see if it helps- so far, its been two nights of misery and twitchy legs. ugh.
khawa, you're really lucky you don't get kicked in the ribs!
saadia, lol :p its lovely when both feet are jammed under there, isn't it? the whole bit goes numb and tingly for me and thats when i know there's feet jammed up in there. the funny thing is if i press down on the spot, the baby will shift and i always imagine it moving its leg and complaining like a grumpy old man haha (geez, that's weird :p)
rosetta, i'll look into compression socks for sure!
Re: Restless leg syndrome
oh man, i’ve had this condition- Meralgia paraesthetica - Wikipedia - for the last few months and it is PAINFUL!! i sincerely hope you never get it in your pregnancy.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
I've been suffering from the same thing for the couple of days too! I had it in my last pregnancy too...I've been getting hubby to massage my right leg before bed but it still kills...I just wanna hit it! Is it really iron related? If so I will also up the iron a tiny bit and see if that helps.
SGC....I'm so excited your baby us coming soon...woohoo!
Re: Restless leg syndrome
is this similar to leg cramp? I've had that at night too and read if you curl your feet and toes up towards your body that helps stop it, works for me..and also massaging warm olive oil on the leg is soothing.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
sciatic leg pain is diff from restless leg syndrome and the mother of both of these is RLP (round ligament pain).
Re: Restless leg syndrome
oh yeah, sciatica is a whole another ball game. i've had that too and i've been stranded on our couch in the dark for two hours waiting for hubby to come home because i couldn't get off the couch on my own to even turn on the lights! wahhhh :*( the trauma!
sparrow, me toooo! now if only they'd get a move on and stop being so comfortable inside my belleh. everything i've read about restless leg says iron anemia is a direct link and i am anemic and on a lot of iron so possibly thats it? i'm taking prenatals and palafer and last night was better after a few days of those pills, so i'm hopeful it goes away. speaking of iron, our prenatal class nurse said the more iron you have, the more milk you produce. just a general factoid i thought i'd share.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
I have had it for years and I m not even pregnant. It usually happens during night. I just walk it off. It's very annoying specially when I wake up in the middle of night with this pain

I think you mean leg cramps. I have them too whether pregnnat or not and it worsens with pregnnacy. What helped me 80-90% is the use of Calcet petites. These are calcium plus Vitamin D tablets that claim to cure leg cramps too. Sure worked for me. I live in the US and get them from walgreens. If you are elsewhere, try ordering online from Amazon.com or see if you can find something similair where you live.
Re: Restless leg syndrome
I had it in my last pregnancy too around 8 months and it would get so bad that I would want to puke, but there was nothing I could do either because I was almost there, I used to tie a dupatta around my leg too and it felt better! I am actually twitching as I am writing this as to the memory of it still haunts me :(
Re: Restless leg syndrome
No I mean restless leg syndrome not leg cramps For the longest time I didn't know it was called RLY until I saw an ad on TV
ps
