What i more important in a husband & wife relationship…love or respect? Yes I know both…but which is the more important? Why?

I think respect more.... u need to respect each others values, morals, ideals.. which in turn makes the love grow..

my husband reckons, all love is conditional, except the one a mother has for her child. And ofcourse, mine for him.

Respect makes relationships and love grow... if u dont have respect for one another, you may as well not love...

One can come before the other .. but for marriage to survive .. both elements are needed

Surely you can't do one without the other. Just like time and money are related, love and respect are too. But we all know Love = money. :)

although no fixed order for either feelings...
every human being is different..some need respect for love to develop...for some its simultaneous...i dont think love happens all by itself.. and there is certainly no love without respect...

I think most arranged marriages start out with respect, and from there, love blossoms...

Both are defnitely needed for a successful, happy and loving relationship.

I rather the man respect me than love me if I could only choose one.

We've all seen men that apparently 'love' the woman to 'death' and then treat her like trash.

U can find a lot of love without the respect bit... just have a look at some of the relationships back home... or the ones that happen at "first sight". But, i guess thats all infatuation or bollywood drama..

True love... the actual true meaning of it... only those know who have made their relationships a success... i think.

I think love follows respect - i always remember my moms advice "Respect him, thats the basis to love - because when you respect someone u automatically get them to make space for u in their heart" and its soooo true!

Back in the day when arranged marriages happened without one seeing the another, relationships and the whole LOVE aspect was totally based on respect.

So, i truly think that respect comes before love comes along! One has to respect the person they are with in order to even take it to where love plays a part =)

Respect. Relationship will last longer and happier. Plus love just fades away sooner or later.

I will prefer him to respect me first for what I am. I will love him too much in return for respecting me :wub: ultimately he will fall in love with me … lol
