Re: Renaming cities and other places
that’s just one of the story..
hyderabad is much older then khilji dynasty,it dates back to Kakatiya era
ohhhhh…to, it’s BHAAGYA [luck, Qismat]…someone wrote as BAGYA…the poster forgot to add an ‘H’ after B to make the BHA sound…now, i know it’s Bhagya Nagar…
…it has been proposed and the name hasn’t been officially changed yet…i think there will be a lot of opposition to it…right?
A and H is due to how it’s pronounced in local telugu deffer from hindi
about name change Luckily there isn’t much religious tension in my state compare to hindi belt..
but if they decided to change name,i don’t think other party doesn’t have any power to stop it,i think general public have no problem with hyderabad
i don’t see name change happening

Re: Renaming cities and other places
No its about giving a Hindu sacred garden (Ram garden, where Rama nad Sita Maya stayed on their way to Hinglaj) an Islamic identity
Re: Renaming cities and other places
Not always. In Pakistan, only the names given by British empire were change to more paksitani-ish names. Faislabad from Lyallpur, Sahiwal from Montgomery.
PS: I just read that Nawabshah is now Benazirabad? Please tell me that its not true
Its Shaheed Benazirabad, as if its her in-laws jaageer
Re: Renaming cities and other places

Jackobabad has not regained its original name (Khankot), because Mr Jackob had gained status of saint in locals
probably Abbotabd was built during British era, therefore saved from renaming.
PS: Osama had not been officialy declared Shaheed
