I was going to add this to my reply about awrah, but forgot! Anyhow, what i was going to say was personally of course i would let a Dr examine me when necessary, bcos its not something i can do for myself, no knowledge. however, with hair removal, i can do it myself, i don't need to have someone else do it for me.
Think of the generations of women b4 us, surely most of them removed their unwanted hair themselves, without assistance, and nothing happened to them.
Do you know how hair was traditionally removed in many societies?
By scrapping the skin with shells.
Or using acid to burn it off.
This history of hair removal throughout the world is very disgusting, and very violent against oneself.
If every woman could properly remove her own hair, estheticians wouldn't have to be examined, tested, and LICENSED to do it. Just because some women used to give birth by themselves or in groups of other women doesn't mean it's ok to reject going to a hospital when you're in labour. We are perfecting these methods, and people study how to perform them.
Again. A professional should wax you, especially in such sensitive areas. I really can't stress that enough.
Ok so we all agree there is no 'no metal' rule, right?, so back to my other question - are we allowed to electrolysis that area & underarms??? in other words permanently remove hair from these areas???
I mean if you think about it - its only a very fine needle that is inserted during electrolysis...
i am - same as you, underarms for now. just had my second treatment. where are you getting yours done?
a place in greenwich by a asian doc. ouchh under arms hurt, and down below is meant to be worse bcoz there is alot more nerves am getting my face done too :) not as painful

Hmmm... Hair can b removed by a variety of methods by yourself, including razor, plicking, waxing, depilatory cream etc. yes, for some individuals any method may have some undesirable side effects, however, for the majority of people they perform hair removal for themselves at least every month without any long term problems. Most of our own mothers have managed to do this without any intervention and they haven't suffered majorly as far as i am aware.
MS, my point is simply that I believe that I, my siblings, my friends, our mothers have been doing our own hair removal for years without unbearable problems, so I do not see it as NECESSARY for someone else to see my awrah to remove hair bcos it can be done by myself.
With a Dr, it IS NECESSARY bcos I cannot do the job of the Dr myself.
However, i do appreciate your point of view coming from a trained esthetician (apologies for the spelling mistake.)
MatineeSiren my concern abt the Islamic values regarding anyone else touching our private parts was I guess valid enough. As Rupay said that doctors is different. We def. do NOT have any other option. Here we have a lot of options besides the Brazilian. The reason I asked this was because a lot of times we do certain things & dun realize that they r actually strictly forbidden in Islam. Why take a chance of getting gunnah? When 2 people told me the same thing I wanted to make sure.
Its like me badly wanting to get my belly pierced & making sure that if Islam forbids it what is the reason & if there is any evidence to support it. Same goes with threading eyebrows. I have heard that its not allowed in Islam. I still get 'em done though. Hopefully one day I'll be strong enough to let it go.
My whole point was if its "Gunnah Gunnah" or Haraam which means there is no "Muaafi" for it. Its like my heart saying its all good in the hood & my brain telling me to follow the general rule.
I dunno abt other methods but when u wax, hairs take their sweet time to grow back & are usually less thick. Waxing leaves the skin smooth & not dark in certain parts :S
awrah :) thats a new name, never heard of it before. You know its getting bit confusing, actually what is this thread about ?
A. should we remove hairs from awrah ? :)
B. how should we remove hairs from awrah ?
C. which is less painfull procedure to remove hairs from awrah ?
D. Should husband / partner look at awrah ?
E. Should u ask some one for help to remove hairs from awrah ?
F. Threading your awrah ? how the hell is it possible i thought you need to hold thread in your teeth and need two hands to do that i am thinking she does it ? hehe must be one hell of a women.
G. If wax use wooden stick or metal ?
H. Should clean it properly or do Brazilian Wax or may be Bikini wax ?
yar, i never thought that girls can have so much stress in life, i am so glad to be a man, and to have only one option and thats shaving it... but do all men like women's awrah clean shaved ? thats another question...
Hey! Whats a boy doing on this thread:hmmm:???
…so duz nobody still kno the answer to my Q???
are we allowed to electrolysis that area & underarms??? in other words permanently remove hair from these areas??? jus wanted a few more honest opinions plz!!!
It's next to impossible =) the ones u do at home won't really work on thick/coarse hair.. u have to go to a certified skin practicioner to get laser hair-removal done..
naaaaah ur right - most of the machines u see lyk in argos catalogs & stuff wont work, these so called electrolysis ones... but av finally come across one and it definatley seems to b working, am glad to say, cos a few months ago i had really really thick hair on my chin, & now since i've been using this machine i've got - it seems to be lessening every day....... thats what made me think ''wot if i can have it permanently removerd in those two areas???''

so what if a woman is looking at your awrah? a man (your husband) is isn't he? dont you want him to look at a clean hair free awrah?
[/quote]
Well it matters to Muslims who want to follow the teachings of Islam. A woman is not allowed to see your awrah, only your husband is. If you want or he wants a clean hair free awrah and you want to follow the teachings of Islam, then its really simple, either remove the hair yourself or get him to do it! Ha ha

Maybe you are confused, awrah refers to the area of a body [for both men and women] that is haraam for anyone to see other than your spouse -this area is your body between the naval and the knee. Only your spouse is Islamically allowed to see this area (except of course the doctor in medical situations like checkups, delivery, surgery etc). It is from the Sunnah to remove this hair for general cleanliness and hygiene. If you remove your hair down there, then how you choose to do it is your decision, you are allowed to use any method like waxing, threading, shaving, creams, or even plucking one by one as someone has suggested! Of course not all methods are the same or deliver the same result, so in the end its your personal decision what you prefer to do
