Good thing this discussion came up. I know that waxing is 1000 times better than shaving. Is it permissible in Islam to get it done from another woman? I found this really experienced lady here & got it done once. It was not at all painful. Then my cousin told me its haraam in Islam. I asked another lady & she told me that even in front of ladies our body below stomach & above thighs is called "Aurah" & is forbidden to everyone except husbands. I dunno how I will be able to do it myself & I def. prefer paying a lil. bit extra & then being relaxed for 1 or 1 1/2 months.
Oh another thing is that girls forget that "that" zone plus u're rear is the most neglected of all area's! They remain covered most of u're life so it's a good idea to apply baby oil or any body lotion to those parts as well!

P.S I m only asking abt Brazilian wax.
U r right, anyone else is not supposed to c the awrah, except for husbands of course, so i guess this means that we shouldnt let other ppl do the waxing in those places.
Never heard of the no metal rule someone mentioned earlier.
Kind of off topic, but I have heard from 3 different Dubai residents that arab ladies go to the salon to get all over body wax, just strip off to their birthday suit and get it done by filipinos, they ignore the awrah rules... But it doesnt make it ok. Anyway, what i wanted to ask was, has anyone heard of this new trend that arab ladies are now getting henna designs on their awrahs?
My friend who lives in Dubai told me, she said her Iranian beautician told her.
i live in the Uk, but when i go to pakistan, i get the full body waxing dun, I mean EVERYTHING waxed, which invilves me taking all my clothes off, I dont c anything wrong with it.
The woman cums to the house, and she does it on thousand of woman, so she s seen it all b4 . I just want 2 get a wax i dnt c anything wrong with that
Ive heard of the metal rule...its a Pakistani thing I think...was told never to let a razor touch my skin...that its wrong somehow. Of course, I need a razor for places aside from the bikini zone so I ignored it but I have heard it before...
As for the Brazilians...Im so tempted! But I dont think we can go to someone else for that. Waxing at home it is!
I think the metal part comes in where some people believe in Islam that you're not allowed to remove hair with a metal (blade, plucker etc) all other methods are supposedly acceptable.
I heard/read? somewhere that it makes the janaza of the woman very heavy or somethign to that effect. They say there was once a lady who used to use metal on her body and when she died they couldnt lift her coffin, and finally when they put a blade on top of it, they were able to lift it.
Do not shave down there. It leads to folliculitis (ingrown and infected hairs), boils, etc. If you're going to remove it, have it waxed.
If you're going to wax it yourself, make sure that you purchase an applicable preparing powder (don't use baby powder, it's linked to cancer of the reproductive organs in women who use it in their genitalia area). Make sure you clean it first, then dry it.
After you wax it, apply a mild astringent or witch hazel to the area. It contracts the skin and closes the pores.
-- I'd still suggest seeing a professional in these cases. Doing this incorrectly can cause serious problems (especially considering sanitation). To those who think it's unislamic to have another woman wax you, would you consider it to be unislamic to have a doctor exam you? Estheticians go through rigorous training and soooooooo many complications can arise if you aren't educated enough in how to perform this. I can't stress this enough!

I was going to add this to my reply about awrah, but forgot! Anyhow, what i was going to say was personally of course i would let a Dr examine me when necessary, bcos its not something i can do for myself, no knowledge. however, with hair removal, i can do it myself, i don't need to have someone else do it for me.
Think of the generations of women b4 us, surely most of them removed their unwanted hair themselves, without assistance, and nothing happened to them.

That sounds like a typical pakistani-ism. I dont know where such weird and wonderful stories stem from, ppl have too much time on their hands.
^ I'm in Dubai.. I do know that the ladies get full-waxes done by Filipino ladies or even Indian ladies. But henna... havn't heard of =)
Interesting i wonder if its recent trend, the iranian said that one lady who was not that young wanted it done to keep her husband interested so that he doesnt go and get himself another wife.
Talking about henna designs on private parts, there was an english temp at work once, she asked me if i could get her a tube of henna bcos she wanted to use it to get back at this man who had cheated on her with his current partner.
Few days later she told me she used it on her private parts and used to excuse to lure him into bed, then she wrote something on his back while he was sleeping with the henna, and his girlfriend saw it when he got home and she got mad with him, and he got mad with the temp, and the temp was loving it.
Sorry, completely off topic but there u go, even angrez have a use for it sometimes!
