Why not - I'd also give photos of styles you like and what you have in mind along with exact color shades because then it helps them to pick what you would really want.

I only have one friend in Karachi that I trust, and we have similar tastes.

if the money is an issue...i'd ask only for ready-made stuff so i know exactly how much it costs.

nope, never. i mean i did trust a friend recently who brought back a really cute outfit but that rarely happens. I dont even have my cousins in Pakistan send me clothes anymore because what ends up happening is that even though THEY may have nice taste in clothes, theyre not gonna send you stuff like their own...they'll send you things they THINK you'll like. it just doesnt work out :)

i would blindly allow my best friend to choose even my wedding dress for me, her taste and eye for detail is superb.
