Religious Misunderstandings

Unity with highly advanced people (of the time) = Win
Unity with backward people (of the time) = Big loss

It is the rule of Allah swa, that He rewards hard working and forward looking people, and punishes the lazies and backward people. .

Thus it is imperative on us individually and collectively to seek the hardworking, forward looking people REGARDLESS of their religion. And if we don't then REGARDLESS of religion, death and destruction will be our fate. That's the whole Islamic concept of justice.

A MUST watch for all. It is the need of the time. We need to find reasons to embrace each others instead of criticizing and declaring others kafir, which is only the right of Allah (swt) because only HE knows our intentions. Only “intentions” and “sincere search for truth” matters, rest we follow what our heart is convinced with.

Re: Religious Misunderstandings

and I quote:

Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim:

There is no difference in the generalities of Aqida and Fiqh between Barelwis and Deobandis. They are both Sunni Hanafis, Sufis, Asharis or Maturidis. One stands in need of the best each school has to offer, as indeed hold many of the living prestigious teachers known to both sides.

Among the best commentaries on Sahih Muslim and the Sunan of al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud are works by the Deobandis. The Lives of the Sahaba by al-Kandihlawi is a masterpiece. Ila'al-Sunan and Aathaar al-Sunan are very valuable. As for Imam Ahmad Rida Khan and his works, whoever does not recognize their worth as one of the treasures of this Umma is a blasted nincompoop who should wear a dunce cap until he learns.
Both sides are strict Hanafis and mainstream Sufis. We do not endorse the mistakes that anyone might have made, such as uttering words rightly perceived to lack adab in matters of
Aqida or contesting the legality of celebrating Mawlid.

Nor do we endorse Takfir. Demonization of the other, saying they are munafiq is unacceptable. We leave extremism to Najd and its minions. Come together. Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki advised you to do so, Sayyid Yusuf al-Rifai advised you, Shaykh Abd al-Hadi Kharsa advised you, Sayyid Yaqubi, Dr. al-Nass, others... Do you think you stand for the honor of Allah and His Prophet more than such as these? Think again.

When the situation is such that there is mutual avoidance at mosques, gatherings, etc. then it becomes wajib for every true and sincere Deobandi should seek out his counterparts among Barelwis and for every true and sincere Barelwi to seek out his counterparts among Deobandis, pray together, learn from one another, give salam, and increase love. Disunity is sin. Or are you afraid you will lose reputation or funding? Shame.
Here is the resting-place of Shaykh `Abd al-Qadir Gilani and Imam Abu Hanifa bracing for another Mongoloid onslaught. Will you Sunnis still be debating and anathematizing one another because of who said what as the Hour rises? Stressing ikhtilaf and schism is from Shaytan. If this is what the general public chooses to follow, it is their loss even as they shout ALLAHU AKBAR and YA RASULALLAH from God's dawn to the wee hours. Salam.
Hajj Gibril

How do you define advanced and forward/backward here?

No one has to DEFINE this. Just look around and see which of the nations are working on the cutting edge of knowledge February 2009. They are forward looking.

And the ones who are not working on the cutting edge of knowledge, they off course are "backwards" or retarded.

Re: Religious Misunderstandings

if u were living in middle ages, would you say europe is "backward" and islamic empire "forward looking"...?

**

Could be you so kind and shed some light on the way of those who have a advantage over others today? in a different topic!?

  • By killing native Americans?

  • By Killing the Mayas and Aztecs

  • By putting blacks in slavery

  • By colonizing other countries and robbing their treasuries and knowledge?

I would wish that people would read more about Western History!
**

What do you mean by working on the cutting edge of knowledge? That is also an ambiguous statement. Does that mean advanced technology? Higher level of education?

As for your statement of unity, the ummah needs to be united on the basis of kalima and obedience to Allah alone. Everything else secondary.

People who do not unite on the basis of the latest scientific and philosophical persuits lose the meaning of Kalima too.

Scientific and philosophical pursuits are not necessarily relevent to the meaning of the Kalima.

Wish you can view this world from the eyes of a poor hajam in Swat whose shop just got bombed by Kalima people.

What you just say is typical response. No wonder when Kalima-people become stronger in a country, the progress, development, and quality of life goes out of the window.

Wow … Thanks a heaps to both of you.
I cant explain in words how I am feeling after watching this video. So much clarity and peace of mind. Its like a huge dirty baggage is off of my back and I am feeling very light.

Usually I dont even click on such threads, let alone watching a lengthy video inside. I could’ve easily ignored this thread/video and kept going with the miserable paradigms all my life. I guess its one of those synchronicities I badly need this point in my life.

Thanks to “Submission To Peace” and TLK once again.

Peace.

If one can summarize this discussion in one sentence, it would be:
**
Be ‘tolerant’ to other faiths or schools of thoughts or mazhabs
**
While Prof. Ishaq reached his state of mind after reading books of other faiths, we all must be tolerant to other faiths even if we haven’t read the books of other faiths.

It is that simple. In fact our tolerance must extend to our neighbors, our city, our country, and this universe. that means we should not treat Christians, Jews, Hindus or other faiths in any less tolerant way than a Sunni would treat a Shia (or vise versa).

Re: Religious Misunderstandings

^^ Agreed 100%

Let us differentiate between Kalima people and the people who use religion for their worldly purpose. No wonder the later group burnt Quran which of course the Kalima people would never do.

As-Salamu 'Alaykum

unity between two groups of people is not possible till they all agree on one common thing. The Muslims groups don't agree with each other on the matters of tawheed and 'aqeedah let alone other issues. However. at the times of war, we should all work together.

you can be either Sunni Hanafi, or Hanafi/Sufi Ash'ari/Maturidi. The Ash'aris/Maturidis are not among the Ahlus Sunnah.

I'm not going to talk about Berlawis but I do know that Deuobandis differe with the main stream Hanafis on matters of 'aqeedah and fiqh. So, they are not exactly strict Hanafis

Really brother? cause that is a news to me. I follow Deobandi school of thought and per my knowledge (which is not much, I must admit) Deaobandis follow the fiqh of Imam Abu Hanifa to the core.

Imam Abu Hanifa did not write a book himself but his students (like Imam Muhammad) compiled his lectures and that is what is taught in the Deobandi Madrasas.

:salam: AllahkaBanda

To be a sunni is to follow one of the sunni fiqh, which is Hanafi, Shafi, Hanbali or Maliki. But to be 'Ashari or Maturidi is ones theosophical approach to the religion.

The vast majority of Hanbalis for example are Atharis not to be mistaken with 'Ashari.

Hanafis can be from any one of the three areas of Kalam. However, they originate from the Maturidi approach. At-Tahawi is another classic Kalam area and is based mainly on Maturidi, but contains some aspects of the other two also, 'Ashari more than Athari.

From Shi’a for example there are Zayidis who follow the 12er fiqh, but they also have a Kalam area which is Mut’azili if I remember correctly, but it has been modified from the original version.

The split you have given above makes it seem that you can only be a Sunni if you don’t follow a Kalam otherwise you are a Sufi. I don’t think it works like that.
