Religious girl vs. the Mod girl...

Re: Religious girl vs. the Mod girl...

Would you care to shed some more light? What is the definition of "Mod" and "Religious" for you NOW, since you already expained what it was in the past? To me your definition of Mod reflected a bcbg or a spoiled brat, a selfish, money lover, show-case girl. This may not be so for someone else.

I do appreciate you confessing how you used to think (rather mis-judge). But why can't a religious, educated, veiled woman be called modern? To me a modern woman would be (from an Islamic perspective, that's what I'm concerned about) an educated, smart woman, who knows her religion as well as the world around her and can practice religion while walk with the world with confidence. But I must confess, I did not always hold this view. My views were also shaped over time with education, knowledge, experience and people I came across/worked with. But one thing for sure, my religion was always the top priority for me and thank God in reaching my current views, I did not take a 180 degree turn.

Nevertheless, personal opinions, and preferences play a major role. Hasty generalizations should not be made, as they don't help, but rather aggravate and hurt others.
