Re: Religious girl vs. the Mod girl...
Religious women never appealed to me...How could they, especially to a musician, like I used to be...
I envisioned my Mod woman wife to be full of grace and class and charm and wit and glamour and suave chit chat...I reckoned intimacy with them would be one of a kind, with nights draped in red satin and winds cooled by the heat of our passions...I envisioned the Mod woman to be so lucid in our relation that to hold her would be to drown oneself in amorous rapture and the results of our love's labours would be everlasting bliss...
And I envisioned the religious women to be someone harsh, illiterate, hard of heart and passions, rigid and frigid in her love and uncomprosing in her passions...Smelly, dirty with not a soft spot to nibble upon..
Time, however, is a jack...It is a great weightlifting equipment able to lift the lids off your eyes...
I have discovered that the Mod woman is a wench...A shrew...Nothing drives her impulses except her desire to be fulfilled for herself...Unforgiving, unrelenting, unhappy, what most people find to shut these types of women up is to fill their mouths with money ot have nothing to do with them at all...Just leave them to do whatever the heck they wish...Even then there is no guarantee that her blind and voracious appetite for self satisfaction will guarantee a happy home...Manipulative, egotistical, unhappy, uncompromising and ignorant about the tiny nuances that make a house, she is an emotional wrecking machine...
And I have discovered the beauty that the veil hides...The softness of speech, the humility of the soul, the eloquence of the words, the depth of perception, the wisdom behind the acts and the devotion and loyalty of the spirit...
truly, in ignorance man is always attracted to the ignorant...Not saying that I have become wise or smart, but it's an epiphany that has made me realise that knowledge is indeed what makes the heart moist with wisdom and love...
But it all comes down to knowing what it is that makes something as such...Like we say in Urdu, "Bandar kia jaanay adrak ka maza..."
What does a monkey know about the taste of ginger...It is a delicacy of an acquired taste...
Total devotion is incomparably priceless...
Would you care to shed some more light? What is the definition of "Mod" and "Religious" for you NOW, since you already expained what it was in the past? To me your definition of Mod reflected a bcbg or a spoiled brat, a selfish, money lover, show-case girl. This may not be so for someone else.
I do appreciate you confessing how you used to think (rather mis-judge). But why can't a religious, educated, veiled woman be called modern? To me a modern woman would be (from an Islamic perspective, that's what I'm concerned about) an educated, smart woman, who knows her religion as well as the world around her and can practice religion while walk with the world with confidence. But I must confess, I did not always hold this view. My views were also shaped over time with education, knowledge, experience and people I came across/worked with. But one thing for sure, my religion was always the top priority for me and thank God in reaching my current views, I did not take a 180 degree turn.
Nevertheless, personal opinions, and preferences play a major role. Hasty generalizations should not be made, as they don't help, but rather aggravate and hurt others.
