My point of view is a little different than some of the biased historians who have propagated such thoughts.
A fair historian would never impose his bias, ideas, or beliefs upon the reader. Historians' job is simply to document the events that occurred and how they occured and not to judge the intentions or motives of people behind any event. It's the job of a reader to read them without the glasses of bias and assess what actually happened. Problem occurs when the readers are influenced by the personal opinions of historians.
Back to the topic/query:
I believe it's not the religion that brings misery to people. It's people themselves who bring misery upon them, sometimes by not accepting the religion and sometimes by mis-interpreting religious teachings.

It's a fallacy. It's easy to point to not denounce responsibility by simply discrediting the accused. It's quick and effective way to distance oneself from damage too.
Where did the fallacy originate in modern time?
Probably as old as religion itself. But it's known as the no true scotsman fallacy.
What is the no true scotsman fallacy?
person a: bill eats haggis with hot water.
person b: well haggis isn't eaten with hot water.
person a: but he lives and was born/raised in scotland!
person b: Well that's because bill is misguided and isn't a true scotsman.

and how do you come to this conclusion? Why do you talk w/o knowledge? Is your intention just to pinch and throw in assumptions with a bad taste to make up your day? If it has brought misery to you, you don't need to generalize. Speak for yourself and then think where and how I failed.
Religion does not bring misery, it's brings peace to everyone, there is a manual out there. Use it and don't throw baseless assumptions infront of the audience.

Is it the fault of Faith if it's not allowed in Science? I have the opinion that Faith is very much used in Science, but it's told it's not. We call something what we can't explain "Miracle"...We had to believe in a God who wants peace for Man and this is what we don't want to attribute to him. Because that would force a 180 degree turn from us and we are not ready for it. That's the point.
You call yourself logic. Very logic to judge a Book by it's Cover. Why did you study books of science with such a desire and temptation and did not study it by it's cover? What logic is this when Faith is not allowed in Science? Can you answer these?

how about we remember that we should be practicing tolerance and patience during this Blessed month, even if that means reading something that may differ from our own beliefs? is that not what keeping a 15 hr+ roza is about?
