When Islam came to India, local bhajans gave inspiration to Qawwali. Muslim ruled more than 800 years over India, but still in Muslim families in Indo-Pak follow local rasmoomaat (traditions) while celebrating their occasions.
For Hindus both culture and religion are same thing, they are culturaly religious and religiously cultural:D. This question is more for other community and as far as sikhi is concerned it has more influence of punjabi society than sikhi's theology:)
GuruGranth Sahib was written by nearly 36 individuals including gurus, out of them main writers of AdiGranth and subsequent writing had nearly 16 Bhatt Kashmiri Pandits:), nearly 45 percent of writers are pandits hence i assume it cannot be near to Islam, the Ik Onkar concept is more similar to Hindu omkar than Islamic Tahweed:), AdiGranth looks more like summary of Vedas and Upnishads:), some of the religious practices are unique, like there is no concept of fasting and pilgrimage that is almost compulsory part of both Hinduism and Islam. 'mattha tekna", is similar to Hinduism way of putting head on the feet of god than muslim way namaz act:), though some ahmedis claim that Guru Nanak was Ahemadi saint:D
Whats common between Muslims and Sikhs, when it comes to religious practices? I think the concept that Sikhs are nearer to Muslims has a link to misconception that Hinduism is totally polytheistic religion.
But guru nanak’s follower are not 100 percent literate when compared to ahmedis:(, the only envy I have got from ahmedis is their education:(
More because Sikhs have beard and wear Pagdi similar to Pathan culture:D.Khalsa army was called Sant-Sipahi, Sant/Muni is hindu ascetic. Even Candians sikhs are involved in this rumor without proving how 45 % of pandit writers can write any thing remotely similar to Islamic monotheism than Hindu monotheism:D. But Sikhi lifestyle is very much influenced with Sufi Islam which is inspired by Hindu mysticism:k:
not correct entirely, Life of hindu ascetic is simple that is what sikhi's original concept is:), Materialism due to western influence has creeped in Punjabi society. Secondly Hinduism is so much culturally intertwined with Sikhi that sometimes religious practices impose on each other, the enthusiasm with which we celebrate each other's festival is another proof of it. Karva Chouth, Rakhi etc are not theologically accepted in Sikhi but still celebrated:), then there are cases of inter religious marriage like Sikh Khatri marrying into hindu khatri further eliminating thin line of separation:)
Can we say that we talk about Sikh-Hindu interaction, culture is dominant on religion and when we talk about their interaction with Muslims then religion is the dominant factor.
Well ,culture revolves around religion.
In a particular place people usually follow culture ,but the same culture is actually a branch of religion.
Before muslims arrived to Asian subcontinent , the culture didn’t have anything islamic to it . But later on after they arrived the culture was a mixture of Islamic values as well as the others.
kuch samjhey ?
Lp agreed to your point, but IMO its not right to say that culture comes under the umbrella of religion. If that is the case, can we define Muslim culture? In every country religion is affected by local culture. Iranian Islam is different than Saudi Islam. Pakistani Islam has different cultural aspects than Islam followed in Middle East.

As you said Islam followed in these places is different & so is the culture.
