Although on the surface these two words or state of mind have nothing in common but deep down the similarities are endless.
when you drink the mind gets into an illusion that everything is fine and all will end well, you feel that you are on the top of the world better and stronger than anyone else, If you are a devout man of God and have real strong faith you also start thinking that everything will be all right, You are much better then many whose faith Is not strong enough or right enough, and that you will triumph in all your endeavors.
When you drink it gives you a false sense of relief from any troublesome issues that you are facing, may it be a quarrel or a loss of a family member, If you pray with real strong faith it produces the same effect making you believe that it was God’s will and a family member who lost their life by cancer will be in a better place now.
If you drink with your buddies they all reinforce and strengthen your views no matter how lop sided they might be. If you pray in a congregation the same effect is produced giving you a false hope that “you are doing the right thing and God is with you”.
If you are drunk you might run someone over with your car or in a fit of rage kill some one but if your religion thinks that all your troubles are because of a certain group of people or person you would not think twice in exterminating the whole clan. Here alcoholism is still a little better than religion because the next morning you will regret your folly where as in religion you will be revered as a hero the next day.
Last but not least if you are an alcoholic eventually your liver might fail, but if you are extremely religious eventually your mind will fail making you believe that you are the most righteous being on earth and every thing you do is for the appeasement of your God which he will reward latter.
Moral of the story: Cheers for me and off to the synagogue, mosque, church, temple etc for you.
Alchoholics are the bane of my career.... the amount of times i have had to send them into cells for the night. or A and E department of hospitals is getting tiresome...
I am not against drinkers in general so long as they dont binge drink and start making trouble for other people.
As soon as that happens all hell breaks loose particularly in England where there is a terrible drinking culture. :ASA:
alcoholism is an addiction..it doesn't create relief it leads to depression...irrational acts and causes liver cirrhosis which ultimately leads to just bleeding to death..either by damage or by cancer. It is also closely associated to violence
There is no comparison between the two..if you want to compare the "high" you'd be better arguing spiritualism versus drugs
Alcohol does have its benefits medically and there is a certain argument for european style drinking..but even then thats another argument
Yes but theres a difference between Alcholism and drinking.
I have no problem with guys drinking so long as they dont upset others with thier actions.
But western style drinking and clubbing is a volatile mixture and every saturday the story is the same…
now in the real sense a 'religious' person will never consider himself sooo righteous or far better than others and that it gives him the right to go kill anybody...whereas in the real sense a 'drunkard' thinks he's the most righteous person and goes abt killing ppl randomly....
drinking gives u a short-lived/temporary sense of happiness whereas true iman gives u an ever lasting sense of happiness
Not entirely… if you follow the faith and are blinded by your love for it then you would happily kill with a potent fervour no other force can produce.
A man who is drunk with liqour comes at you… you still stand a chance he might miss.
A man who is drunk with emotion passion and love for his cause, yet is completely calm and knows Allah is watching but also knows that RasoolAllah has promised shifa for all that love him… fears not what stands in his way… though he appears blind drunk and furious he will be as skilled as any sober man in fact more so for his feelings are at exstacy.
Who would be more effective in a battle… i wonder.
Yes i have been drunk but not on no mans liqour,
I drink from the cup that the bearer bought to Medina… if you don’t drink from it your a kaffir…
if i dont drink for it i’m a kaffir…
To those i pledged my vow they drink not anything for three days at Karbala but then they give us all the drink of heaven Jaam e Kausar.
By those sacred peoples i pledge my vows and be i wrong or right my conscience is chrystal clear and my heart resolute Judge me if you will…
oh so tht’s why i sai “religious in the real sense”, not as most of us are…in the real sense a person will do what’s deemed right and rational in islam…true islamic way…
i dnt knw, but then i think alcohol cud be good sometimes, when u want to run away from reality:bummer:
I am trying for a PHD but i am a warrior first and foremost
Never run away… face the trouble head on and you will at least know that you did your best.
First thing to learn is to stand in the line and in the army you dont stand becuase the officers bark at you or becuuase of anything pompous you stand because of those you love and those who are valuable to you would not want you to run…
Besides if you lose or die or whatever at least you did your duty…
Escapism is cowardice.
Sister whatever the problem tackle it before it tackles you… thats my mentality.
