All religions claim to be ‘the only true one’, the way to God, or the voice of God.
More wars, killings, rape, murder & ‘unGodly’ things have been done in the name of protecting one’s religion, or forcing one’s religion on the other.
If only we could understand these are ALL MAN made religions- good intelligent men thinking they were doing the right thing by claiming to speak for GOD.
In some ways I think religion has been a curse on us human beings - for it has divided us forever.
I kind of agree. Organized religion does cause a lot of problems. I think its important for us to understand that religion should be a personal faith system. It should be spiritual, not political. Unfortunately for hundreds of years religion has been too political (specially Christianity and Islam) and has hence caused a lot of problems.
for muslims...Islam is te complete Deen ..in every aspect of life...from politics..to social life..from individual to a nation..from praying namaz to how to come out off the wash-room..each and everything is depicted how our prophet(pbuh) did it...thats why Mishael Heart considered him No 1 in his master piece The 100 .....
our everything is ideally under islam..politics and everything....everything is described in it.....
islam cannot be a person's own matter...and countries who claim to be "Politically Secular" ....we see what have done in these "secular " countries in Gurat 2002 by Neerandar Moodi and in 1992 in L K Advani Rath Yatra...to gain votes in the name of religion.....while ...which you people consider as a "Hard core Islamic Fundamental State"...is anything happened in past 60 years to hindus or christians etc...

daily nonmuslims are forced to convert.
islam cannot be a person's own matter
religion should be a personal matter. When u try to force ur views and beliefs on others then the altercation starts. arguing on the point that my religion is better than urs is the biggest stupidity.
just answer my one question..whats a difference belween muslim and non-muslim.its only his belief rest all is same. everyone has to work, eat breathe right?? dont give me the crap that u feel close to god as a muslim or u will go to heaven. As everyone is made by god we are all equal in his eyes. you wont get extra points for being muslim.
Religion has to be personal.
As malhot is saying "All religions claim to be 'the only true one', the way to God, or the voice of God.".

Yes you are saying exactly what malhot said - "All religions claim to be 'the only true one', the way to God, or the voice of God.".

Definently... I liken people who argue over religion to kids fighting over whos imaginary friend is more real... But relgion has its benefits, and there isnt much harm in it, so long as it doesnt turn into poop flinging contest.
Religion has divided people even within Pakistan, which was created in the name of religion (a 'pure' muslim country).
Today, the 'pure' sunni's hate the Shia's (look at Iraq, Iran Iraq war etc etc), and the suni's & the shias call the Ahmediyas & other sects as 'impure' and so forth. Infact the Shia's are called 'kafirs' by Sunnis???.
So religion in its 'pure' form is a curse - for it has divided us humans forever.

dude that really gave away ur purpose in opening this thread...
any excuse to attack islam is more than welcomed by most of the people who are championing the secular cause here.
One dude pretends to go after all religions and a few others start delivering their scholarly opinions on why islam is the root of all evil... gud job guys. I hope you dont cry foul when a few firebrands start slinging mud in ur direction.
Chachaji - what about the Christans, ever since the 'church of England' seperated from the Pope - the whole christan world had been killing each other - IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. Only now things are changing between Christans, since people are now accepting different beliefs within themselves.
With maturity - comes acceptance of others beliefs.
I still say the intentions for creating these religions was good, yet they have divided us humans.
Chachaji, you're taking offense when you shouldn't...
As I said before.. its when religion becames political, problems arise. This has happened both with Christianity and Islam (This does not mean I am attacking these faiths, both are very dear to me)
Dawa, I think its safe to say you are one of those people who make religion political and take it too seriously.. you have very little respect for other faiths.. and I have very little respect for you.. Please don't respond to any of my posts.. I will try to do the same with yours..
Malhot.. I agree with your posts.. No faith should teach "this faith is the only right one, all others are evil"... I really don't believe any faith would want to preach that anyway.. It's gotta be politicized religious leaders, extremist interpretations, etc which do that...
There is one faith that we all should have in addition to our own, HUMANISM ! My mom calls it INSANIYAT...
Both with religion and without religion scenarios have its own advantages and disadvatages. But it's advantages will be lost in the coming decades or centuries. In all likelihood it is going to be a liability rather than something good. By the turn of this century I would like to see all the religions are destroyed.
when islam seperates with politics....just remaims a ancestoral dynasties as of ummayyads and abbasids and mughals....if you have ever heard of the first 4 caliphs of islam...its the golden period of islam...where islam spreded to half of the world injust few years completing vanishing the 2500 years great civilizations of persia...now only found to be in pages of history and eastern rome dynasty of 700 years......and we left this ....the result is infront of you....still then in many caliphs....the judges give rulings against the caliphs and he has to accept that....he is not above all....seperation of exevutive and judiacary and the parliment that is quran and sunnah always remained the distinct features of islam
do you think Bush killed 655,000 people for WMD ??????
what israel is doing for 60 years.....???
what the other secular states are doing....we all know that....
regardings all religion were true but with time corrupted by thier leaders and followers and the last religion is islam ....and never be corrupted as 1400 years...if you find a single comma missing in quran...then plz..inform us of this biggest news of human history !!!!!!
even strong critics of islam like williammuer admit that the quran we have today is 100% what when it revealed.....and all religions give the oneness of Allah.....but thier followers later made essa the son .of god...uzair the son of god....and some made autars as god-man etc....whats funny about that ?
Regardless of whichever specific religion you want to discuss, religion itself has been a blessing for mankind. It has allowed civilizations to form, for people to make sense of the world around them, and to make sense of time, as well as many, many other things. Without religion, no one could have explained natural disasters. Without religion, no ruler could have imposed divine right and allowed for sucessive lineage rule. There are thousands of things that religion has done for us that outweigh anything negative that has arisen from it.
To break it down, religion is simply this: A world building, and world maintaining belief.
<--double majored in religious studies and sociology.
It can also be said that organized religion has served to consolidate power and corruption, making it easier to suppress and control the masses. Throughout history and even today, organized religion has discouraged scholars and great minds from developing their ideas because of fear of persecution.
Cruelty, hate, snobbery, greed, male-domination and injustice have been tolerated (at times practiced) by organized religion, while other comparatively innocent perceived sins are berated with unholy glee.
Sure, it has provided a structure for man to develop, but it hasn't always been for good.
