I am no fan of RM, but what he said is, isn't it the truth? You should have commented on the content rather than on personalities. Google it and you will find he is not telling the lie. However %age wise population is the highest in Sindh as compared to other provinces.

Its not about content, its about controversy that has been created by a joker who played like a bridge in khooni mufahimat (read as munafiqat).

There was no need to give such statement under current circumstances. I mean what was the need for such statement.

MQM don't trust google as you do. They demanded for fresh Census.

My agreement or denial won't work. MQM got issue to play politics due to this statement. Whatever the % of Muhajir population is, why RM talked about it while giving statement that PPP and MQM should stop playing blame game. Now this started a new game

What's the population if Sindh? And what would be the population of mohajers in Karachi, Hyderabad and sukkur? It doesn't matter but I think they constitute more than 25 %.

Why is the government resisting Census? it is important for almost all planning measures. No wonder we can’t plan anything!

Visited Pakistan Census website. It seems even that has not been updated for more than 2 years! What a country! BTW, how does census help MQM’s cause?

^ don't know how it would help MQM. I think they believe that Urdu speaking people are more than Sindhis in Sindh now.

Census is necessary for planing, but here it would be used for political purposes and playing victim card. A little promo was seen in PPP govt, when Sindhi nationalist parties protested against MQM. MQM then did miracles by proving that 50 people can live in one-room houses. :cb:

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Coordination committees of Pakistan and London rejected the statement of Senator Rehman Malik in which he said that Sindh’s 60 percent population constitutes Sindhis, 20 percent Mohajirs and 20 percent others. **

“Rehman Malik’s statement reflects a mindset reeking of prejudice and chauvinism,” the MQM’s coordination committees said in a joint statement.

MQM said that those putting the population of Urdu speakers in Sindh at 20 percent, should make arrangements under the Sindh government for inviting a team of United Nations for conducting a census on immediate basis.

It argues that an impartial census under UN would bring actual population break up to the fore, as several ethnicities dwelling in Sindh continue to claim their numbers according to their own estimates.

“Rehman Malik should have recalled that the credit goes to the Urdu speaking people for according him warm welcomes by showering rose petals whenever he arrived in Sindh,” the MQM statement said.

Census helps MQMs cause the same why registration of votes helps under their patronage. When thousands of CDGK, Education and other Govt department employees recruited by MQM will conduct the census, we will discover that Karachi/Hyderabad/Sukkur population has grown many times in specific areas, while it has reduced in areas where MQM doesn't get vote from.

Census is a must and it should be done, but transparency is also a must. As long as its held under influence of Provincial/ City govts it will be used only for political purposes. Declare certain area populated many times more than it actually is, and get more funds based on concentration of population, get more votes to be used in that Thappa Machine which we all have seen in this Election. Reduce the population (on paper) of your opponents area, and deny them funds they need etc etc

I think that seed was sown by none other than Bhutto with his urban vs rural politics and fudging the census data in Sindh if not elsewhere.

what were the situation that was exploited by Bhutto by bringing quota system? Was there no quota system before Bhutto?
