^May be that is the point they are trying to convey that education makes a difference.
She was a bright little girl, was married off at an early age and made to leave school. She resisted initially, tried going back to her father but eventually accepted her fate, stopped trying and became dull.

She does not look 13 year old though and her dialogues are I think meant to show she is very innocent.

she’s a bad actress period! the younger girl was an amazing actor! her expressions even her eyes were so intense
